Jane Rebel car seat? do you have one?

We currently have a Jane Carrera pushchair. Expecting baby no 3. had used the Matrix lie flat for babies 1 and 2 but this has since been slated by which. Thinking perhaps the rebel would be the answer in terms of being able to just plug it onto my existing chassis but cant find any review of it really. The Matrix car seat (I think they now call Matrix Cup) we always found to be very upright when in the folded up (rather than lie flat) position and difficult in the car because of requirement for very long car seat belt. Does anyone have the rebel - how do you find it? or has anyone seen a review of it. Dont want to buy it if it has a bad safety review. thanks

I had this for ds, born in 2004. To be honest I only clipped it onto the pushchair about 3 times... he always woke up when I took it out the car due to all the seatbelt faffing, so I stopped bothering.

For dd I bought a Britax car seat and it seemed to give so much more all-round protection it realy confirmed our concerns that the Rebel doesn't seem to "encase" the baby very well.

In terms of fit and sitting up - we had problems with baby's head flopping forward in both seats - I think it's a lot to do with exactly how you lay them in it (in Britax seat I realised you had to almost put their bottom on top of the crotch strap), but the Rebel had a curved underside which meant it was easy to tip it up too much when strapping into the car, and leave the baby far too upright. In the end we used to put cushions under it (where baby's feet are) but that really doesn't seem a great way to fit a piece of safety equipment!

Getting right into the nitty gritty here (sorry if too much!) the Rebel handle has a setting called "auto" which is where you're supposed to put it when in the car. (not fully upright like the Britax). I assumed this was meant to prop against the backrest of the seat, which really helped the stability of the Rebel when strapped in. But again this meant it was tipped further forward than you want for small baby's head. But if this isn't the reason for the "auto" position, then why is it needed??

FWIW if you are concerned about safety reviews, buy a Britax or Maxi Cosi, ideally with Isofix.

Sorry to ramble!

I have one. Had it for ds1 (when I was blissfully ignorant about how these things work in practice), and now using for ds2 because it is there. I really don't like it, particularly for small babies. There is nothing to support the head, so poor ds2's head flops right forward. It looks horribly uncomfortable for little ones. Ds2 screams every time he goes in it (despite being a generally chilled sort of baby).

It is also a PITA to fit into the car (might be because our car has short seatbelts). I leave it in the car and just take it out once a week at mother and toddler group.

I wouldn't get one if I had my time again, but I can't justify buying a new one fo ds2.

I had the rebel car seat and found it fine for dd - found it easy to fit and dd always seemed comfortable - I used it alot with the pushchair too. Lasted dd til she was about 9 months - I'd feel happy using it again with another child.
