I'm trying to find reviews about this product but cant find any! Has anyone used one and if so, did it work well?

I'm having trouble getting anything out of my Avent hand pump so i want an electric one but as i'm on the verge of buying a second hand Whittlestone, i want to make sure i'm not wasting my money if it doesn't work that well.

Any comments would be useful!

TIA!

I had one and didn't really get on with it - a manual one though. I eventually taught myself to hand express because of it (would really recommend that unless you want to be hands-free)! I found it far too gentle.
Also just checking you know about the risks of a used breast pump in terms of passing on infection?

Doesn't steralising kill all germs etc?

I had a manual one and got about 3 drops with it. Went for an electric medela in the end.

And yes, about the sterilising killing the germs. I doubt anyone would be foolish to use it straight off

i want an electric medela but cant afford one!!

Home sterilisation can't kill all the germs that might be on a used breastpump.

I also heard this from the HV at my breastfeeding group. I was using a second-hand one until I found out (then bought the Whittlestone one).

Ah bugger.

I had one of these - also found it far too gentle to express anything. Eventually took it back for a refund. Have had a manual tommee tippee which did the job. Also bought an electric medela for number 2. Good but a bit noisy. Found I didn't really need to express - so collecting dust. Hope this helps.

Thanx annwoo, very helpful. You had the electric Whittlestone? Perhaps i shouldn't spend the money and just see if i can find a secondhand medela instead...... It's only £20, but money's money after all!!
