I'm currently learning how to drive and just found expecting DC3 in Nov. When baby born DD1 will be 3.8 and DD2 will be 22 months so will need to be able to fit in a group 0, group 1 and group 2-3 in back seats. From your experiences which is the smallest but comfortable car that can fit these in? I quite like Focus S-Max but DH says it too long! Told him will look into smaller alternatives but still hoping to sell him on S-Max.

Sorry post so long.

Thanks in advance.

my nanny friend has a focus and we cant even nearly get 2 group 1 car seats (and) and a group 2 in the back...

its not even close

(seats used... combination of
2X maxi cosi priori OR 1 priori and 1 britax renaissance

with either maxi cosi rodi OR britax highliner...

simply no way on this earth would 3 of the above fit in focus and we really did try!

I had a fiat seicento with stage 1 in the middle (britax freeway quite slim), baby seat one side (britas) booster the other.

Certainly couldn't get three car seats in the back of my focus - absolutely no way - tried everything......but...there was one combination that did just about work, I can't be certain of the types of seats used but it was very cramped and on top of that two of the seats faired very badly in the 'which' car seat guide. There was no way we were going to risk cramming in two crappy car seats plus one good one - not a chance.

Really you need a small MPV - we tried everything we could to get by with a 'normal' car and 3 DCs (insurance is higher on MPVs). The smallest MPV was the renault scenic - pretty unreliable and tiny boot, next up was the Citroen Picasso which seemed better. We went for something bigger though. Cmax and S max were out of our budget so didn't try those though.
