I lust after a Bee, but DH will go spare if I buy another buggy. I love the extra big hood and the reversibility. What are the 'ishoos' though?

I lust after it too but just can't as DD is 19 months now...

Erm, it doesn't have air tyres???

TheBlonde · 14/03/2008 20:28

It looks tiny and flimsy

sophiebbb · 14/03/2008 21:41

I have just given in and bought the yellow one. I resisted for about 3 days.....! DH was not happy.....Justified it to myself as have a 15 month old with a new baby on the way. It is a stroller which will accomodate both - obviously separately! - because it will go down flat for the newborn. Also have a Phil and Teds when I need to go out with both of them. Convinced DH that this was the last buggy purchase EVER......

CarGirl · 14/03/2008 21:43

mumsnet how old is your child and what is your lifestyle?? If you use the car a lot and need a rear facing buggy it is fab

Mumsnut · 14/03/2008 21:44

Soph - does it look big enough to accommodate a 3.5 yr old? They are sold as such but there is a lot of criticism on review sites that the seat just isn't big enough ....

Mumsnut · 14/03/2008 21:44

cargirl - yup, that's me

CarGirl · 14/03/2008 21:45

3.5 year old - no way IMHO!!!! Also rear facing there is no footrest for a toddler IYSWIM

LazyLinePainterJane · 14/03/2008 21:45

errr...it looks like someone made it out of spit and twigs?>

lucyellensmum · 14/03/2008 22:27

I think they are bloody horrible and cashing in on the name. I had a bugaboo frog, and loved it when DD was in the pram bit, then i loved the push chair until she was about 6 months and then she hated it, because the seat was too small!! I rather wish i wasnt sucked in to be honest. What, may i ask, is wrong with a maclaren?

Shhhh · 15/03/2008 21:51

It looks awful....sorry......Bizarre shape..

moondog · 15/03/2008 21:53

Don't be so fucking ridiculous.
You can get something perfectly servicable for about £30 and (heres a thought) save yer money.

ArchiesMama · 15/03/2008 22:02

are bugaboos really that amazing or are they just the cool thing to have......i realize wat a wealthy little town i live in when i see swarms of every colour of bugaboo on a daily basis!

sophiebbb · 15/03/2008 22:25

Well I had a Bugaboo Gecko and yes, it was amazing. Sorry. Really lightweight, turned like a dream, could sit baby facing me or away from me (really liked to have him facing me when he was little) and just very well designed. Plus when we sold it, we got a really good price so all in all we didn't spend that much on it in the end compared to how much it was used. I have heard of so many friends not being happy with their buggies and having to change them that in the end I was pleased I went straight for the one I did. Can't see the benefits of a Chameleon over the Gecko though (Chameleon costs a lot more) - unless you are extremely tall or short and really do need the adjustable handlebar.

The good thing about the Bee is that it has all the benefits of a stroller (lightweight, easy to put up and down) with the added benefit that it can be used with a newborn baby OR a toddler because it does go completely flat. Again, I just figure that I will be using the damn thing for another 4-5 years so I may as well get something I like and is well designed.

tallbirduk · 16/03/2008 14:34

Well we just bought the Bee yesterday after much mantling / dismantling in the shop and both hubby and FIL trying their best to break it - they failed by the way - so not as flimsy as some of you think.

Totally agree with what sophiebbb said though - and that's what swung it for us, the fact that it is already a lightweight stroller, albeit with bells on - so our thinking is that this way we aren't buying a HUGE system for the new born, use it for 6 months then end up with a cheapo stroller anyway - we just go straight to the stroller, and hopefully get really good use out of the Bee.

I love it, love the colours, love its spindliness, love its lightness, love the fact that you can face it both ways, love it all.

Probably not helping anyone be talked out of buying one then.........

Mumsfruitandnut · 16/03/2008 19:36

Moondog, if you can find me a stroller for £30 which allows dd to face me and has a hood that comes down to her toes and ACTUALLY KEEPS THE SUN OFF HER, I will gladly buy it instead. Esp if by MacLaren.

kaballie · 16/03/2008 19:52

I was in London this weekend. I swear, if I see another Bugaboo...

TheBlonde · 16/03/2008 23:26

I just don't get this rear facing business - I am looking where I am going not at my child the whole time

Bugaboos look good as prams but then afterwards the children look like they are wearing the buggy

DKMA · 16/03/2008 23:36

It's shit
It looks like shit
It is shit build quality
If it wasn't a Bugaboo - you'd be laughing at it!

PixelHerder · 17/03/2008 08:28

DKMA - au contraire, the fact that it's a Bugaboo with all its connotations is a big minus point for me, truthfully!

Now if it was branded as a Maclaren, I might have not been able to exercise my (uncustomary) restraint

goingfor3 · 17/03/2008 08:34

It is so tiny that it's going to be far to small for an average 2 year old. Buy a Maclaren which is comfortable for the child to sit in and one of these hoods www.bumpto3.com/product.aspx?DISPLAYCAT=safety&CAT=Products&CATGRY=Out_and_about&PID=JB110 .

Mumsfruitandnut · 17/03/2008 09:56

Going, that IS interesting. We have a mesh thingy but she regards it as a prison. Parasols useless because they have to be adjusted every five seconds. I wish Mclaren did a rear-facing buggy.

tab · 17/03/2008 10:25

mmm I did think it was lovely but Im worried that it wouldnt last long in terms of Ive had two long and quite stocky babies and I suspect the third may be the same. If I could be certain I was going to produce a 6lber Id go for it! I think its lovely in terms of being lightweight and doing absolutely everything you want it to and if it was my first child then I dont think I'd hesitate. I cant work out what to buy for a third - the problem is justifying it!!!

DforDiva · 17/03/2008 10:40

im not impressed with bugaboo cameleon, so no more bugaboos. i enjoyed pram bit. stroller is so tiny, ds 6m was not going fit in it till 3. i think people likes the idea of changing fabrics etc...
bee looks small to me, the actual seat unit is tiny, not much room for toddler.
people seem to sell after using a few weeks, there must be something wrong

amazonianwoman · 17/03/2008 13:37

Can't a 3.5yr old walk? Esp if you use the car a lot?

Once my DD got to 9mths there was no way she wanted to face backwards, she was practically falling out of her bugaboo frog (bought way before the hype, now happily sold for a much superior Mountain Buggy ) to see which way she was going - they're all inquisitive at that age.

So given that they spend 5-6mths in the cot bit, I don't think the rear facing appeal makes that much sense for all of about 3mths...

sophiebbb · 17/03/2008 16:54

I must have a really uninquisitive and very small 16 month old baby then!!!!
