I have just bought some new duvets and the tog size is 13.5. Is that quite warm or can you get warmer ones. I am not sure of the ranges but really need something warm as it's so called at the moment. Thanks

13.5 is about the warmest you can get. They say 4.5 is lightest, about 10 for normal and 13.5 for warmest.... so you should be fine.

Anyone know what's recommended for children? We have just put SD2 (2.4) into a bed and he has a 4.5 tog (which is what DS1 had when he first went into a bed, and the same as his cot duvet) but when I crept into bed with him for a few minutes this a.m. (mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. ) it felt so light I'm worried he will be cold? Room temp is about 19c.

I've got a combination one for Ds's beds (3and 4). They had 4.5 tog in the summer and now have 9 tog. The younger one is perfectly warm with that but the older one likes a blanket as well. I would think 4.5 might be a little light for the coldest weather.

Once they're in a bed you don't need to worry about overheating. He'll be as cold as you so if you need a warm one so does he. I'd go a lot higher than 4.5 for this weather. If he gets hot he can always kick some of it off.

You can get 15 tog. I just got a new duvet which is two joined together with press studs and they add up to 13.5 and it's very cosy I can put this one in the washing machine too.

Agree about childrens duvets yet my two are rarely under theirs but we have our central heating on constantly downstairs and in the bathroom so the house is always warm.
