LittleLapin or anyone bought the Contours Tandem from the US?

Contours Tandem by Kolkraft

I could get DH to bring it back from the US in June. For £100 I'm thinking it's not the end of the world if I don't get on with it and the plan would be to have a double stroller in the boot for trips to the shops once the new baby is old enough. That means very little lifting of giant buggy in and out of car.

I will have a 14 month gap.

The only thing is that I've noticed it weighs a whopping 20KGS! I live in a really hilly area. Will I be even able to push this thing out the door?

Any comments gratefully received. I know a P&T is the lightest tandem option, but I find the "toddler in the boot" set up really off-putting.

Was thinking iCandy Pear, but if this Contours thing is good, then we could save ourselves £400...

Cheers!

by the look of the child in the front seat on that pic(it says at 15months),it wouldnt do with a big child in front as there doesnt look like theres much headroom,

20kgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure I'd even bother, although if it is too heavy to push you will probably get a high resale value on ebay for it. Have you ruled about the jane powertwin???? I had loads of doubles for my 14 month gap and with the exception of 3 wheelers the easiest thing to push was actually the graco stadium duo tandem thingy.

Brilliant. Thank you very much. Laughing at your impulse buy though. That was some impulse! Best of luck.

There's someone in my NCT group with the Powertwin and the baby at the back looks awfully squashed when the baby at the front reclines. The seat seems to rest on the legs of the rear baby... Or is that my imagination?

I like the way the baby at the back of this one sits up stadium style. Will have a look at the Graco one, thanks Cargirl.

Oooh, so cute the way the children face each other. Very sweet picture, LL.

If you don't mind side by side the nipper 360 is very light and should be a doddle to push??? Most double buggies are actually quite heavy and big anyway.

twelveyeargap · 13/03/2008 17:20

I think the same about the P&T, though I'm going to give my friend's a go, just in case, when I go to see her in a few weeks.

I can't really go for a side-by-side because all my local shops are small and I have trouble getting my Mountain Buggy in them. Even though the double MB is only a tiny bit wider than the single, it would still mean I'd have to leave the children outside almost all the shops.

I have a P&T kiwi explorer (the original original) and a sport, the seat on the original is much higher off the floor. I'm really short 5' and on the sport I have the handle adjusted really low to make it comfy and easy to push.

sazm · 13/03/2008 19:56

i had a graco stadium duo (there is 18m between my 2) and i LOVED mine, i never found it hard to push, saying that i only used it once or twice a week when i went shopping,
i loved the fact i could clip the car seat on and off SO easily,it was really great for me,also the rear seat was very well padded, and it was only £99.

The only thing about the Graco, is that the children can't face you (or each other). It's the one thing I don't like about my Mountain Buggy. Years ago, when I had DD1, I had a Maclaren with a reversible seat (don't know why they don't make them any more... no call for non- travel system buggies these days I suppose.)

Anyway, I would prefer to be able to have them facing me (which is why I liked the iCandy Pear).

Think I'll give it a whirl. If I hate it and can even get half the money back on it on ebay it will be worth it. The Pear isn't perfect either and is a whopping 5 times the price.

Obviously no carrycot on the Contours, but then I only used my MB one for about 2 months and the carrycot on the Pear is tiny. Can't see anyone getting 6 months out of it.

i dont think any buggy is PERFECT, i mostly used the car seat on my graco so dd was facing me,
i now have a rear facing buggy and love it and feel strange if dd is in anything else,
its nice that the option is there for them to face each other too,i think it looks really cool,
