My ex's brother (dds uncle) getting married next month and dont know what to get them. I dont really know them (met them twice) so asked his mum. She said something unusual or northern irish (hes from here, but shes not-they live in england) no housey stuff needed.

Any ideas?

A voucher?

Are you going to the wedding?

CarGirl · 09/03/2008 22:53

something for the garden, plant/bush in a pot, outdoor candle holders/lanterns

a nice casserole dish?

Someone bought us a lovely casserole dish (even though we never asked for it)

and after 16 yrs of marraige we still use it big time.

We not only use it for casseroles, but lasagne, salads, stews etc.............

Some nice wine or a John Lewis voucher. If they don't want anything for their house, don't get them anything for their house.

no rankin only has places here. but do they never come to NI?

i got two native cherry trees from cvni
be a bit hard to bring with you tho

it's a shame the craft place on Bedford Street has closed as they had lots of stuff made here.
you could try in the linen museum in Lisburn. they used to have lovely things like handmade linen.

shreddies · 09/03/2008 23:19

We bought some friends a bay tree for a wedding present - they seemed to really like it

Lmccrean · 09/03/2008 23:19

I dont think they do cremola.

dds dad lives in england (their whole family does now) so he could get something/bring it if i get it delivered to him. dont think easyjet accept trees as baggage!

will ask about linen/belleek/tyrone crystal and wether they have a garden...

thanks so much for all the ideas ladies!
