What bed do you have and what is the problem? I have two ikea beds and I bought them fairly recently so have manuals!

CarGirl · 06/03/2008 17:41

I want to buy a big bed with 2 seperate mattresses DH needs a firm and I need a soft. the mattresses say need a slatted base but I want to use the flat bed base with a mattress on top - arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, is that possible???

you can! But you might need diff mattress types ms they must be the same height. Then add topper to up over both.

CarGirl · 06/03/2008 17:48

I don't even want to share a topper with him Basically I'm going to have to go to Ikea though aren't I - yuck!

Can any mattress be used on the bed bases that I can attach legs to?

We don't have the room for a large bedframe - you know I'm willing to risk them moving apart - anything to stay asleep when dh is turning over and I bounce off the bed with the inertia...........

most of ikea adult beds need a topper. Doubtful hed move you with a topper. If you had separate mattresses. We have a lovely firm bed and I never feel dp turning, unless he is stupid enough to slyly rob the duvet...

Okay, thanks! So I can get a 160cm base, 2x80 mattresses and then a topper and it'll work???? Any mattresses work on the plain base - yes or no?

Can't get a 180 frame in our room!!!

So was thinking a sultan 160 with possibly 2 80cm mattresses as I need the softest mattress and dh needs the firmest mattress.

Don't want to get a divan as we need to use the overhang over the skirting bed that a sultan on legs would give us and then attach a headboard to the wall.

actually we couldn't get a 180 bed base in our room - that is the problem all around small bedroom huge husband. If anyone falls down the gap between the mattresses it will be him he keeps invading my side of the bed hence desperate for a bigger bed!

Yes but I really don't want to plus to get a frame for the 80cm slats then the bed will be bigger than 160 and longer and you have to add on the extra for the skirting board -aargh!

good job we can only fit the sleeping child in the next room one in then!!!!!

I will have to get an extra topper to make up the height difference between the 2 mattresses!
