Out n About Nipper-how important is the swivel wheel? £100 better?

How different are they to handle, realistically? I have noticed that there is £100 difference in price between the fixed and swivel wheel versions, is it that important to have a swivel wheel? Does the fixed wheel one have any features to redeem itself, ie, narrower or lighter?

Thanks in advance!

I thinkt he fixed may be slightly lighter. TBH the nipper is that light you don't need swivel. I wouldn't pay an extra £100.

mme- well don't have nipper but do have mountin buggy (ie a 3 wheeler) which you can have set fixed or swivel. They recomoned only having it fixed for real off road.... Occasionaly it has flipped into fixed when I've been out and about and it's a real noticable difference. Much uch harder to manoever, you can swivel it around on a sixpence if the front wheel moves but on a 3 wheeler with 3 fixed wheels you have to follow the ark of the puchchair and they are big things.....Just my opinion

I'd go for the swivel.

I have a single nipper and its great. Wouldnt have considered the fixed, but do use the fixed function on bumpy tracks and beaches where its much better.

The swivel is great for everyday use, otherwise you find yourself leaning down on the handle bar to lift the front wheel up and change direction. They can change direction on a six pence and are extremely light.

Single or double?

I've got the Nipper Double and didn't want a fixed wheel as the swivel is so much more manoeuverable (sp?) around town, and you can fix the wheel for off-road.

If you have the fixed wheel you have to tip the buggy back to turn it on the back wheels, which may be difficult as the baby/child gets bigger and heavier. But then it might be easier with the single.

I've had both, definately get the swivel you wouldn't believe the difference, it's definately worth it.

i havent tried out either but i would def go for the swivel wheel if you will be using it in town, if its just for walks in the country or whatever fixed would prob be ok though

Thanks a lot for the advice, it just seems so ridiculous to spend an extra £100 on one wheel! I think I need to test drive one really. What are they like width wise?

Are we talking about the twin? We had a twin nipper with fixed wheel, and it was brilliant. Even with 2 really heavy DC in it, the steering was fine - it's a lightweight machine, so very easy to shift the weight a bit for corners. All our family were impressed by it; there's one at our DC's nursery and apparently it's the pushchair of choice when the staff take the LOs out for a walk.

Ooh that is good to know! Yes its the double I am debating over.

I had the double fixed, my friend had the fixed too but after trying my swivel single really wished she'd gone for the swivel.

The difference is instead of constantly lifting to change direction you can just gently push it in the right direction, it's sooo smooth.

When my twins got bigger and I was holding a hand the fixed was a lot harder to use. With my swivel single I can change direction without letting go of ds's hand.

It's quite a thin pushchair my friend and I measured all the double side by side pushchairs on offer 2 and 4 years ago, it was the thinnest, very few doors it doesn't get through.
