HELP! Sleeping bag virgin - please help me find one for dd1 (nearly 11)

DD1 is off on a school residential trip at the end of the month, and I have just received the kit list which includes a sleeping bag! Had no idea we'd need one, as they are staying in chalets, but hey-ho!

Anyway, as we aren't a camping family and know nothing about sleeping bags, I wondered if anyone's got any pointers as to what we should be looking for, or good brands to look out for, etc etc

Any advice or guidance would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you!!

Maybe I should have put this in camping?

I'd recommend this one www.gooutdoors.co.uk/sleeping/mummy-shape-synthetic-bags/5032307627234

Gelert are a good reputable but "value" brand - I had the equivalent of this sleeping bag when I was a kid and it kept me going for about 10 years.

If she's not going to be camping/roughing it then this is perfect. If she was going to be carrying it for long distances, then I'd go for something like this www.sportswarehouse.co.uk/acatalog/Vango_Ultralite_500_Sleeping_Bag.html as it's lightweight and packs up smaller.

We had the same problem, just went to camping/outdoor shop and described what we needed and got one in a sale for £9.99

argos

Thanks Olive, I was figuring Argos might be the best bet, or Millets maybe. Just wondered if there were any special super-dooper types that people would rave about. But I'm guessing maybe sleeping bags aren't like that really. More of run-of-the-mill type product I s'pose!
