depends on feet. dd has narrow feet with high instep so clarks never fit she is a startrite girl. but friends with wide feet children swear by clarks.

sophiewd · 05/03/2008 08:14

If you are near Dorchester, County Shoes up Antelope Walk just of the main shopping street is great, I get all of DD's shoes in there, they have a wide selection of brands

brimfull · 05/03/2008 08:14

H&M have lovely kiddies converses £5.99,not what you're looking for I know but nice.

bozza · 05/03/2008 08:27

I tend to go to a kids at clinks branch because I get a discount if I buy 6 pairs in 12 months and since this includes all footwear and I have two children I generally manage it. I am thinking of a trip to the clarks outlet to see if I can get some cheap doodles for DD's indoor nursery shoes.

I have to disagree with sheheraz though - DS has wide and high feet and I have found Startrite generally better for him than Clarks. He normally has Cica trainers though.

bozza · 05/03/2008 08:27

I like the idea of the H&M converse for DD in the summer.

SheherazadetheGoat · 05/03/2008 08:31

sorry boza i bow to your wide footed knowledge!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/03/2008 08:33

agree about wide and high feet = startrite.
DS always had red marks on his feet with Clarks. but startrite fit him really well.

fishie · 05/03/2008 08:41

ds has wide feet and high arches, i have found clarks useless, they never have more than one pair of shoes in stock which will fit him and their measurements have varied wildly.

european shoes fit him much better and he takes ages to grow out of them. look for an independent shoe shop you will get far better choice.

SheherazadetheGoat · 05/03/2008 08:47

i a sensing a high footed theme here. poor dd's feet look all crushed in clark shoes.

sophiewd · 05/03/2008 08:49

DD has high insteps aswell, which is why I take her to an indpendent shop

fishie · 05/03/2008 08:53

ds had some wonderful geox lace ups, they were almost spherical in their wideness and fitted him for about 8 months.

i go here unfortunately named but it is in romford so what can we expect. see how much more choice than sodding clarks?

bozza · 05/03/2008 08:54

Maybe it is the high foot thing then. DD has average width but high feet and also tends to be in startrite quite a bit. They are more expensive than Clarks though, so if your DD has feet that fit nicely in Clarks you might be better with them....

SheherazadetheGoat · 05/03/2008 09:13

startrite shoes are cuter though!
