Ikea extendable bed mattresses

I am planning to get DS a Minnen extendable bed from Ikea, but the only mattress they do to fit it is the Sultan Sova mattress which is foam and only 9cm thick - i worry that it doesn't look supportive enough (DS is 2yrs if that makes any difference)

www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10082712

Anyone got one of these or found a similar size mattress elsewhere? Cot mattresses i found were too short.

The mattress size is 80cm wide and then any length from 135cm to 206cm although i would prefer a mattress less than 175cm to start with even if i have to buy another when we extend the bed.

Any ideas?

I had a funny sized cot and had a mattress made specifically to fit it. Can't remember where though, but I found them online.....

My ds has this bed and mattress, he is 2.3yo.
We planned to use it for a couple of years before upgrading to a normal single. We are really pleased with it, fantastic value for money.
The mattress has been fine, ds sleeps well on it and I have layed in bed with him reading books etc - nice and comfy.
If you are planning on keeping the bed for some time could you maybe use this one first then buy a spring mattress when it is fully extended?

There is a mattress company on Ebay (just search for mattress). I found them really helpful. Sorry, but cant remember the name of the company.

cameleon that is reassuring - it just sounds and looks flimsy when i think of the lovely thick sprung cot mattress we bought for him (nearly never slept on!).

Will maybe have a browse on ebay too, not sure i can take anymore looking for mattresses, it bores me out of my mind!

Thanks for the help!

We have the similar style bed from Mothercare and DD has been in it for the past 3 years (she is now 6) and have had no complaints from her - she sleeps all night!!! We had intended to get a proper mattress when the bed was fully extended - but we only did that in the summer - so is not worth it as she will be in it for another year max.

Will need a new mattress for DS who will inherit the bed - so will look at the Ikea mattress to see if it would fit.

Have just got the Minnen for DS (this afternoon!). They also do the Sultan Sussa mattress in three-piece form to fit the different sizes of the Minnen as it grows. It too is only 9cm thick but seems more substantial than the Sultan Sova (did a fair bit of comparative mattress-prodding instore today).

(The website doesn't say that the Sussa fits the extendable beds, but the 80 x 200 version does as it comes in three bits).

lovely for little ones - been through a few mattresses for my hawking great DDS 9 and 11. They tend to squash down and then the DDs moan about the wooden slats.

we have the bed and foam mattress, it has been fine for my dd, we have used it for 3+ years but we have bunk beds now.

once your child is a bit bigger and you have it fully extended then you could think about upgrading the mattress? my dd is nearly 7 and we never had it fully extended, just partially, so I moved the foam bits every time I changed the bed, then the pressure was evenly spread, but when your child is so young I don't think the mattress will be affected?
