argos do float jackets and floatsuits if they are of any use

antartica · 04/03/2008 15:31

Had one of these for dd and it was fantastic - you can blow up the floats as much as you like, so alter it gradually iykwim -here

p.s. I just use arm bands for my two lo's (4 and 17 months), although dd is learning to swim at the moment and they dont use arm bands (they use a selection of floats instead)

Wolfgirl · 04/03/2008 15:37

I should have added that I want to take it on hols to Greece, but just seen what one of these jackets weigh - 15-18kg (Argos link) that would nearly be LO's luggage allowance. Oh dear.

I might call Blooming Marvellous and see what theirs weigh.

I wonder if I could hire them on holiday? I have no idea. Im scared witless that DD will wander off and fall in the pool. At least if she had one of these on - there would be a better chance of her surviving. Sounds all very morbid, but she is a wild one my little girl, quite undisciplined. If I took my eyes off her for only a moment she would be gone.

thanks for the links ladies.

antartica - I think your option is best so far, as you can blow the floats up. I wonder how much they weigh. I could call them. thanks for the link

Wolfgirl - I think the weight that's referred to is the child's weight, not the weight of the suit...........

Wolfgirl · 04/03/2008 15:44

Is it? ha ha ha ha. DOH!

WaynettaSlob · 04/03/2008 15:45

yes it is...

antartica · 04/03/2008 15:45

I've just pulled dd's out and haven't got scales to hand but (uninflated of course) it feels about the same weight as a 6-pack of crisps if that's any help .

Am I in the bad mother's club if I weigh something against crisps instead of organic apples?

antartica · 04/03/2008 15:48

And if you're travelling its good because the floats come out of the suit and squish to next to nothing and then the swimsuit is no bulkier than a normal one so would fit well into luggage - some of the others look huge if you're pressed for suitcase space.

Sorry to barge in - but GLTC also do the same suits and have one which is SPF50 - added protection from the Greek sun?

Wolfgirl · 04/03/2008 16:04

Yes antartica go stand in the cobweb-idy corner, crisps indeed.
