Jane ....any good?

After much browsing and research, I think we have decided on the Jane Nomad, this comes with the matrix car seat. Several posts on mumsnet alludes to a 'which' report which slated the car seat with the belt across the middle. The matrix cup appears to have 'rucksack' type straps....is this a good buy from birth?

Thankyou!

I loved mine have to say but it only lay flat in back of car when dd1 was only child, when dd2 arrived I also had to buy the 'rebel' is it? I don't like seeing babies scrunched up in the smaller car seats for long periods of time with heads lolling forward and as I drive 2hr journey quite a lot it was great for me.

Mine is now 5yrs old and will hopefully be of some use for dd3 in july

we bought the 3 wheeler and its still going strong, dd2 asleep in it now!

can't advise you to buy or not but I've certainly been happy with mine and in spain, where they are manufactured, they are the main brand of prams used

sorry, meant to add, when the matrix is used in its rear facing capacity it is a lot bigger than most, doesn't fit in the tesco car seat trolley for example - just make sure it will go in your car before you buy it

We got ours 5 years ago as well when, at the time, the lie-flat car-seat was very highly rated by Which!!
Have used that carseat for both DC with no problems but, like dizzydixies says, do check how it fits into your car and make sure you have someone who REALLY knows what they are doing when they try it. If you are in BEDS/Herts area you could come and try ours, Dh might still be able to remember how to fit it though DS is 2.3 now

Our Matrix car seat was an absolute PITA to fit in the car in the lie-flat position. It regularly drove me to sleep-deprived tears of frustration and even DH found it awkward (this was in a VW Golf). For some reason it seemed so simple when we tried it out before buying...

It was very much easier to fit once we started using it in the rear-facing position.

Another thing, as Dizzydixies says, is that is doesn't fit in/on the supermarket baby trolleys.

For me, if I could have fitted it in the car and then left it there that would have been perfect.

How bizarre Apple! I had a VW Golf and a Matrix. No probs at all fitting it in in the lie-flat position, but never managed it at all in the upright position.

used my Jane powertrack and matrix and loved it (4 years ago) infact with ds1 never used another pushchair so from birth til 2.8 when stopped using the pushchair.

Cleaned it up to use for dc2 and it was twins so have just sold it on the a friend who also loves it. Was well worth the money

feetheart · 04/03/2008 20:01

I'll second oooggs, DEFINITELY worth the money. Ours has been used daily for over 5 years - DD transferred to buggy board when DS arrived and he's still in it at.

Borrowed a buggy for going away but never had to buy another one. We thought really hard before buying it as it seemed so much monay but by God has it been worth it

fruitfulinotherways · 04/03/2008 20:11

Feetheart, same here with the Which report. I trust them less now, knowing that they said it was great and then slated it later.

I'm using my Powertrack with the Matrix as a carrycot for ds2. Can't use it in the car as I now have 3 children to fit in! But it is a lovely lovely pram.
