Is there a non-function plastic doll out there?

Can I find a reasonably priced non function doll for my DS? He has a soft bodied doll, but I want to get him a hard bodied doll, because he wants to change "baby's" clothes, put a coat on him when we go out etc., but the doll is only a small thing, with clothes permanently sewn on the body.

I'd like the Tiny Tears type I had as a kid, but don't want all the functions. All my google searches turn up wetting dolls, talking dolls, wiggling dolls etc.

Is there a simple, nude (prob. hard plastic) doll out there???

there are a couple of boy dolls here, they are soft, but look like you can remove the clothes

dd2 has a tiny tears.

She fed it once.

It weed once.

Since then it has been a non-functioning doll.

Squonk - seems a waste to pay the extra though. But if there are no alternatives, I might have too!

BrownSuga - I don't mind him having a 'girl' doll, I'll just try to avoid the pink clothes!! But those cloth dolls do look nice. I would rather something a little harder wearing!!!

Thank you both for the quick response!

one thing - I struggled lots to get boy clothes for the doll that ds uses. In the end, I got some prem baby clothes which, believe it or not, were loads cheaper than the boy outfit that toysRus did.

I agree that it's daft to pay the extra if you don't have to, but I haven't seen a cheaper one around. (I don't mean there isn't a cheaper one, just that I haven't seen one)

If you buy one of the bigger sized plastic dolls, prem clothes or tny baby sized ones from places like Mothercare will fit - can get them cheap on ebay.

Sorry to hijack this, I want a plastic hairless doll to put in the bath.

LittleFairySmile · 02/03/2008 21:43

Oh - thanks for the clothes tip - I still have DS first clothes (he was 5lb and 1/2 oz) which might fit a doll!

Boy doll - Roby - non functioning I think, but £20

This one is pink with pink accessories but at just £10 you could ditch the pink dressing gon and buy other clothes. It is a wet and dry doll.

fryalot · 02/03/2008 21:44

hula - they're both the roby boy doll

Hulababy · 02/03/2008 21:44

puffling - think the £10 doll set is bathable; well it is if it is same as DD's anyway.

Spottydog · 02/03/2008 21:44

My dd has this one. www.toysrus.co.uk/Category.aspx/TruHome/TruToys/TruToysDolls/TruToysDollsBaby

Hulababy · 02/03/2008 21:45

Sorry: try again wet and dry doll for £10

puffling · 02/03/2008 21:46

Thanks hulababy

Check local independent toy shop: we got one for DD for a fiver when her sister was born: anatomically correct and still loved 9 years on (and rather cutely still called "doll"). They had boy ones too and were perfect as no moving eyes or hair to break/ damage.

LittleFairySmile · 02/03/2008 21:56

Hulababy/Spottydog - are those dolls bodies hard all over, or are they soft bodied? The picture doesn't show!

LittleFairySmile, yes it is hard plastic. She has baby born, but likes this one best! I have also seen very similar ones in an independant toy shop.

ca7439 · 02/03/2008 22:29

my dd has one like this
it came in box with one set of clothes etc.. but you can buy cheaper without box iyswim. go on ebay and search for peterkin doll
It does nothing, can't close eyes or anything, but great for baths etc...
Hope that helps
