Fuzzy Felt-where can you buy it?

My cousin gave me a set for dd from ELC but it's nowhere near as good as I remember it. Too many pieces, too fiddly, with some sort of pattern embossed on many of them. It's actually too much for her (and me-God where do you start!) that it generally ends up on the floor and drives me mad!

I want a really nice simple one where it's obvious what the pieces represent!
Any ideas please?

ELC
here

popsycal · 15/12/2004 13:54

oh sorry you have tried ELC - read properly popsy

WigWamBam · 15/12/2004 13:54

The Entertainer has stacks of the real Fuzzy Felt, much better than the ELC stuff.

bakedpotatohoho · 15/12/2004 14:00

wwb, raced to google and the entertainer, but can't find FF there. is there a brand name?

moondog · 15/12/2004 14:00

What is The Entertainer please Wigwambam?

Which one of the ELC ones have you got? They vary. We first bought the farm one for dd when she was 18 months and she loved it - still does at 2.5. But I also got her the indoors / outdoors house and garden one and it's quite hard to tell what all the pieces are. She's just getting the hang of it now.

So it might be worth having a look at what other options they've got and trading it in.

WigWamBam · 15/12/2004 14:13

The brand name is Fuzzy Felt, I'm surprised it's not on the website because they have loads of different sets in their shops. (It's a chain of toyshops, by the way, md)

Wills · 15/12/2004 14:14

ToysRUS have loads

WigWamBam · 15/12/2004 14:15

ToysRUs list it on their website as out of stock but it might be worth looking in the shops.

moondog · 15/12/2004 14:33

Pidge, we've got the indoors/outdoors one!
Crikey, your ds is good. I have trouble sorting out what is what and i'm 37!
IMO there's just too much of it (but then again, my current theory is that there is too much of everything everywhere so eventually one gets paralysed by indecision, like when I recently wanted to buy a coffee maker....hang on, ranting now!)

well, we have the elc farm one and it isn't a mad success. it's too... busy.

i had a lovely ballet one which kept me busy for hours... those dancing silhouettes, the tutus... can't find one like that anywhere.

Pidge · 15/12/2004 14:47

moondog - I think the indoor - outdoor one is pretty terrible. It's really hard to tell what's what. Dd only likes playing with it now after a year of playing with the other one.

I heartily recommend the farm one - it's a bit crazy with blue cows and pink sheep, but at least you can tell which animal is which. It is much much simpler and better designed and the pieces are less fiddly. I've got it as a gift for lots of friends after dd liked it so much.

Pidge · 15/12/2004 14:49

Bakedpotato - posts crossed - just goes to show they're all different - one of dd's first words was "fuzzy felts" after her early encounter with the farm set!

Oh well - of course - I remember the fuzzy felts in my day being much better too

PickasillyChristmasName · 15/12/2004 14:49

I had the ballet one as well - it was great . I have bought the "original" ones on ebay sometimes.

bakedpotatohoho · 15/12/2004 14:51

nostalgia

moondog · 15/12/2004 14:52

E bay!! That's an idea! I want an old fashioned one. Never done e bay. Is it worth it?

You could still buy the ballet one recently; it's out of stock at Mail Order Express , but it suggests that maybe it's still being made? You have to go to page 2 and scroll down to the Anniversary Compendium. My dd has it and she's only 6! There is actually a huge range on MOE, so it might be worth having a look though- the Noddy one looks quite simple.

TwoIfBySanta · 15/12/2004 20:22

Echoing Wills here but Toys R Us have them, some sets even in a lovely tin box but I didn't check what the pieces were like. There was quite a variety though.
