The couple I've seen (bushbaby, little life) 'hang' the child on its pelvis, same way a baby bjorn does. are there any that are more 'seat'-like? with support around upper legs/bottom area?

try an Ergo. I got mine 3 weeks ago and it was a revelation ! really distributes weight and my Ds loves it.

ah now I've had one recommended to me before, but I read a number of reviews that said it was hard to get lo into it properly on your own, especially if you were both wearing coats. they all seemed to suggest you had to do contortions on your sofa that you might not want to do if trying to put it on in public. Anyhoo I'm a bit old stiff for contortions, an' all!

what is your experience?

and doesn't the ergo put them right down low on your back? (ie, where they can grab the middle of the stack rather than only the top items, iykwim?)

mei tai? I love my cwtshi

takes some getting used to. i put my ds on my front when its cold because the coat thing can be a bit much.
i can now get him on and off really easily. you will need to be able to lean forward about 45' when you get him out.

i practised over a bed
you can try with out the ergo...just see how far around you can swing your lo on your hip round your back...that is the movement.
i am fine getting it on and off in public but people stare...i just bow at the end

they are basically sitting on your hips...so quite low yes

its not a perfect design but better than most .

I use an Ergo with dd2 (now 2.8). It was hard at first, then suddenly we could do it with no help and everything was wonderful. It is very comfortable.

mamazee · 01/03/2008 22:11

i agree with tooticky i was gutted when i first used it and thought 'what a lot of money for something i will never use' but then we nailed it and it wa sfab...can imagine it being better on a 2 year old..my ds 11 months and just fits it

quite a few carriers here www.littletrekkers.co.uk/shop/index.php/browse/25663d8708d42dc527c91cf8d0a262f4

this on mentions something about the babies legs being supported (i have the vaude swing which is very comfy) www.littletrekkers.co.uk/shop/index.php/flypage/1081/ca8207833a4f6ada30217a8bda9850cb

i have a macpac, similar to bushbaby. Good as you can alter the length for different people carrying it.

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 01/03/2008 22:33

hmm there is a shop here that sells ergos, might have to go try one on. ds is 10m and VERY wriggly, not sure I can see making this work...

thanks betty I was looking at that site, that's what made me ask!

my ds is a wriggler and very strong but you learn to do it so fast and he quite likes it now...i found that he wriggled much more when i tried to put him in a 'backpack' type thing.
check the ergo website they have films of how to do it i think...
good luck
