I'd had in mind a Jo Malone candle/gift set type thing but what's in my budget doesn't look "enough" IYSWIM. She's in her early 50's, childless, widowed, very fun forthright New Yorker. I have no ideea of her taste or colour scheme so dp's helpful suggestion of "a cushion" (wtF???) is out - I think she probably likes nicknacks. My limit is about $120 (she babysits for us too and spends fortunes on the kids) and something namey or designer would probably go down well.
Any ideas?

Typical man. When I had bought my birthday presents for myself from dh (perfume) and my boys (watch) he asked me if i'd bought myself a card as well while I was shopping. He obviously thought he was being very witty. I did NOT.

Ah well, if she is doing stuff for you as well as him, I can see the rationale.
I bought some nice things for my dh's interpreters because they really helped us out as a family (including accompanying me to the obstetrician and sitting in on my scan, and accidentally letting slip that I was expecting a boy when I didn't want to know. Grrrr!!)
They were/are lovely and a godsend. I have to phone them for help with EVERYTHING at the moment!!
No Christmas presents though. They're Muslims ! Smile

I was a secretary/PA for over 15 years and most male boss's wives bought the Xmas present. I'd rather have had something like theatre vouchers thank posh candle or scarf. I do our Xmas shopping except DH's to me which is always very generous. When I was a sec/PA I would never have bought the boss's wife's present and I did a few funny things like collect one boss's mother's disabled toilet seat thingy from a house she had sold!

One year my boss's wife bought me a bottle of Opium (I was about 18 at the time). He bought everyone in his department an address book and a perfume atomiser, and in addition he bought me a beautiful silk scarf. Admittedly I do think he wanted to shag me....

He also bought me a lovely gold ingot on a chain from his trip to SA
