Quinny Formula - anyone else have a problem inflating the tyres???!!!

Having recently bought a new Quinny Formula, I decided that the tyres could do with a bit more air. As dh is a bike fanatic and as the handbook for the buggy said that the tyres on the Quinny work the same as those of a bike, I got him to sort it out. The problem is, as soon as you start detatching the pump from the valve, the air rushes out and the tyre is flat! I have less air in them now than before!! Has anyone else had a similar problem? Someone said yesterday that I should get a footpump as you can release it quicker thus preventing too much air escaping. Thing is, I don't really want to fork out any more money being that I've spent a small fortune on this buggy and the pump that came with it. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Help!

My Urban Detour is like this too - and the mini-pump that comes with the pushchair is useless. Have you tried using a proper bike pump? I bought one for £2 and find that it releases quicker than the mini one.
It's actually in the bike shop today having a puncture repair done, so ds2 is just having to walk everywhere.

Can I join in? My Urban detour wheels annoy the hell out of me, i have replaced the two back ones and the valve in the front is broken i am sure.
I bought a new pump which helps a bit but can you repair the valves?

I put Slime in my inner tubes, or rather the el-cheapo Halfords version of the stuff, and that virtually stops punctures. I've not had a puncture for over a year now, so I'm a bit worried about what's actually gone wrong with my wheel now. Perhaps that could be a faulty valve?
I love my UD to bits but I was only thinking yesterday that it would be good to have a spare wheel for when you get the inevitable flat.

you have to order them from a mothercare shop, a slight hassle but worth having a spare.
