We already have Big Tunes for Little ones, or something, with Amanda and it's not bad. Looking for an alternative, any ideas?

dd, 4 and i love amy whitehouse, burl ives (ole country stuff like shoo fly don' bother me..." jungle book, and something called noisy time(fat old policeman, football crazy etc).....

she's on her own with all those ones where a dreadfully posh lady and children (i'm sure it's always the same ones)sing nursery rhymes, ennunciating every syllable perfectly

mrsruffallo · 23/02/2008 20:40

Have you tried the Barefoot Books website?

misdee · 23/02/2008 20:43

hehe thomcat, we have brainwashed the kids into liking our music. dd3 was singing along to 'some kind of rush' last week.

but they do still love the disney princess cd (yuk), jungle book cd (comes with platinum version of the dvd), and some other kids pop cd. cant remember what was it was. pop tv maybe?

Thomcat · 23/02/2008 21:43

I always swore blind i would never ever play my children 'children's music'! Now look at me! DP is distraught about it! But the whines of 'ohhh please mummy, singing spider' over 'our' music is too much to bear. So a comprise, children's music now and then but sith an adult twist. Off to do some online shopping, thanks all.

sorry if this has been suggested previously

Thomcat · 23/02/2008 21:58

LOL! Those are great cremola. However not right for me personally as I'm looking for something for them to sing-a-long to type CD for the car. But great CD's and I might get one as a gift for someone who has a new babay. Great idea, thanks.

choosyfloosy, you might like this or this. Folk music is not really my thing, but I quite like these and dd (1) loves them.

cremolafoam · 23/02/2008 22:02

particularly like 'teenage kicks' version.LOL
i would also recommend the putomayo ones- African Playground or some of the others. My nephew age 5 particularly loves them.I got them off Amazon for my sister once.

cremolafoam · 23/02/2008 22:05

the whole range for kids

JingleyJen · 23/02/2008 22:05

depending how old your kids are.. we have loved this

very silly but not nursery rhymes
you can listen online on the site if you want to try it out before buying it..

DS1's favorite is Jackie Jackson, about about who eats so many cakes he explodes.

It's funny, you can listen to it over and over again and grown ups like it too.

OH MY... I found one. A thrash metal band aimed at kids www.thunderlords.com

you can listen to sample tracks here

track one, Old Man Olaf had me crying with laughter. and I'm a little tea pot was really funny too.

I know this is not at all what the OP wanted but its too funny not to share

overthehill · 24/02/2008 23:40

We're Putamayo fans here too, but my dc's like the ones intended for adults too & we have loads - Afro Latino, Cajun, Caribbean Party, Carnival, Cuba etc.
