be changing the explorer at any point soon?

am gonna get the stroller, but am unsure about whether or not i'll need the double kit as am hoping dd2 will be walking better by then. i know they changed the dwesign once before, but am wondering how often this happens, and will i need to worry about not being able to get a doubles kit at a later date if i needed one?

How old is the big one?
I was worried about this but as the double bit was only a bit more than a buggy board, went for it. Ds used it for about 3 months. Doesn't need to know but nice to know it's there for a long walk and handy for extra shopping/paraphernalia

she will be 2.5years when bubs is due. but from past experience i used a double for dd1 and 2 with similar age gaps, but only for 6months.

I'd definitely get one. We like long walks so it was vital! (My dd was 3.5 when ds was born.)
Probably could have done without it, but life so stressful then (dh abroad, moving house on my own, I resolved to make things as easy as possible.)
School is a mile away, so walked there to get her then we walked back, her hitching a lift when tired.

Do I sound like my kids is a lazy arse? She isn't! Now she will walk and walk and walk with us-about 4-5 km or more at a time we reckon.

PS Sister reckons that the double set would add significantly to the resale value.
I love mine-was banging on about it on two different threads a day or two ago.

PPS Bought mine in about May, and now that there is a new cover out, as my original ripped (not my fault) and they accidentally replaced it with the newer cover so now it doesn't all match and has had to go back! Soooo, don't reckon they'll change it for a while.

i was meant to be getting a 2nd hand one from here with doubles kit (it was me you were answering questions for about the cocoon) but i had to let it go as my grant wouldnt be thro in time. so am looking at buying a new one. I will be walking dd1 to school each day, with dd2 and bubba, and it is a bit of a trek. will also be dropping dd2 off at nursery 2 days a week. she may get tired. i love walking with a pram, makes me feel better and helps me stop the onset of PND. i go crazy in the house after babys are born and love long walks.

God sorry misdee-my brain is fried!!!

Completely agree about the walks thing. It's the best therapy there is IMO. I learnt a looooong time ago that things are always better after a good long walk. The E3 is really nice to push! Still, mine with the manufacturer at present cos of mentioned problem, so have my sister's old battered Maclaren. Puny wheels are pathetic in the big big snow here!
Dh comes to get me in a taxi every day, takes me into town for lunch, then walks back with me so that I can get my daily walk (would be impossible alone)
I told him that if he did that for me, I could handle the rest (ie being home all day with two kids in a country where I don't know many people and don't speak the language!)

where did u move to? and how long ago?

i remember pushing dd1 pram thro the snow here in the uk once, that was mad, i skidded everywhere and so did the pram lol.

Moved to eastern Turkey (near Iranian border) 8 weeks ago when ds was nearly 4 mths.
Yes, it's terrible in the snow. It doesn't melt either, just freezes solid. Can't get rid of it unless you chip it away. Saw a JCB doing just that today. It's about 1/2 metre thick in some places now.
Also, constantly harassed by well meaning Turkish grandmothers telling me it's too cold to take ds out (OK, so we'll sit in the flat for 5 mths shall we?!)
Also snowing again tonight!!
Very pretty but I'm praying that it won't be snowing when we leave on Saturday to come home.
Shouldn't do though, most of the time the sun shines and the sky is a cloudless blue-sort of skiing weather

misdee · 11/12/2004 21:22

Bet it looks amazing. any yellow snow there? lol.

A bit...!
Worst thing is the litter! I can't believe how people throw stuff down. Everyone does it! Children's parks are filthy, the rivers are clogged with plastic bags, what is effectively an open drain runs past our flat in which I half expect to see something unspeakable like a body, and in the summer (here before ds was born) even a tour guide we went out with for the day was throwing empty tissue boxes and fag packets out of the window!!

Also v upsetting to see tiny children begging, cleaning shoes and selling tissues.

But.... I like it here v much, fabulous scenery, gorgeous gorgeous people and lovely food.
Dying to get home though. All this chat re nativity plays, office parties, Christmas trees and Father Christmas making me v home sick!

misdee · 11/12/2004 21:30

Thats a shame about litter. i keep finding beer cans and bottles in the front garden i share with my neighbour. must get out there and clear up a bit.

i missed dd1 class singing on thursday as dd1 had to leave early as she hurt her arm and need to go t the hospital, and i missed the xmas fayre yesterday as i had to be at the hospital. :( must go and do soemthign xmassy with the kids soon.

Yes do, and think of me starved of Christmas input!
(I'll probably wet myself with excitement when I get home)
Let me know how you get on with the Phil & Ted ok?
