Birthday presents for 4 year old

DD2 will be 4 in a couple of weeks but I just have no idea what to suggest - my mum, sister and IL have all asked for suggestions. The problems is she has lots of things that DD1 doesn't use and hand-me-downs from cousins plus Christmas doesn't seem 5 minutes ago.

Any suggestions for things around the £25 price range.

We've bought her a swing for the garden so that was nice and easy....

My DD1 will be getting for her 4th:

  • dressing up costume
  • umbrella (prob Charlie & Lola)
  • kids' binoculars from millets (for spotting minibeasts)
  • lazy town cd (and stephanie dress up if I can find it)
  • book
  • globe/ world map

Does yours have a fave programme? is she showing tastes that are distinct from her sister's? she may appreciate a chance to show her individuality.

Something from the 'I love ponies' collection in lots of shops at the moment.

If she likes ponies that is!

mamalocco · 20/02/2008 11:15

Have a browse on Amazon for some ideas - plus some really good deals at the moment. Barbie and Horse reduced from £30 to £8; Baby Annabel double buggy £45 down to £17.

cardy · 20/02/2008 13:56

She loves dolls and barbie...unlike DD. however we were very luckily given every baby annabel accessories recently and six barbies with clothes - I don't think the house can take any more!

The only thing she's asked for is towel with barbie on....seems a bit too practical for a birthday present, she can hardly 'play' with it.

get her the towel! and get her matching duvet set!

my dds love jigsaws and puzzles. they also love games such as connect 4, guess who, find the pair, happy families.

what about arty stuff like paint, glue, make and do, glitter, cut and stick etc etc etc

nailpolish · 20/02/2008 13:59

elc have 20% off art stuff just now

nailpolish · 20/02/2008 13:59

or what about a v smile

robin3 · 20/02/2008 14:06

Playmobil holiday chalet...personally I'd love one.

cardy · 20/02/2008 14:06

I might get her some pants, vest and socks to go with the towel and duvet! They both got loads for jigsaws/games for Christmas....however that's what I like doing with them so there's a good case for a couple more!

A trip to Hobbycraft might come up with some ideas....

What's a v smile?

v smile

cardy · 20/02/2008 14:11

hmmmm, is it good?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 20/02/2008 14:14

yes, my dds like it anyway. 3 yr old dd needs a bit of help, dd2 still uses it and shes 5. hse is getting a bit old for it now tho.

nailpolish · 20/02/2008 14:16

i thought it was quite expensive, though. i bought one on ebay and got games on ebay for pennies.

saythatagain · 20/02/2008 14:19

I've got a Dora the Explorer V-Smile-type-thing if you want that - £15 + P&P? I know it was £40 new (she got 2 at Xmas!)

cardy · 20/02/2008 14:29

Sounds good if both dds can use it, can they play on it together?

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 20/02/2008 14:34

dd s fave presents were from this series of sticker books and how to draw books...they were £2.99 at hobbycraft recently

and /things for train set/lego/my first scrabble/decorate your own handbag/ groovy dolls book...pop out, stand up bodies and clothes with tabs to hang on them

saythatagain · 20/02/2008 14:44

Are you askin me cardy? If so, then there is one console. If not, then oops!

bluenosesaint · 20/02/2008 14:52

Sandpit?
Skipping rope?
Dressing up?
New lunch box?
Hair accessories?
Bag? (my four-yr-old just LOVES bags, she can't have too many!)
Charlie and Lola dolls (if you've had enough of Annabel et al)
Books?

nailpolish · 20/02/2008 14:55

yes you can get 2 controls and they can play at same time

cardy · 20/02/2008 15:37

That's what I meant - can they play on it together? Sorry I didn't make myself clear.

This makes it sound like my dds have everything and are very spoilt....that isn't the case, I assure you. But don't you find after 6 years (DD1) of christmas and birthdays plus friends giving them things you have so much stuff....it's almost like buying things for the sake of buying things...
