Crown/Dulux wipeable paints - any good?

I am planning on re-painting my hall which is currently that lovely builders magnolia its very grubby and I have no chance of being able to use the long lusted after Farrow & Ball paint I love so I wondered if anyone had used the Crown Easywipe stuff and if its any good?

Also I need any suggestions on a nice neutral colour so any ideas welcome - TIA

I have the wipeable paint all over my house, was that lovely builders magnolia too before, and I have not had a problem with it.

Why can't you use the F&B? If it's not for financial reasons, then they do a 'modern emulsion' now which is wipeable, and not as shiny as some of the wipeable ones I've seen.

Really, Midnight ? That's extreeemmmely interesting as we had used it BC (before children) but I got the shudders at the thought of DC's sticky handprints all over my F&B String so thought I would go down the wipeable route!! (so not financial )

I shall investigate both options -
Sparkly - I was just a bit worried about the wipeable stuff looking a bit shiny ? or it not being wipeable - does it actually do what it says on the tin

Yep it's fab. We did our kitchen in Clunch (matt) and the bit by the bin was a disaster, so we redid one wall in the modern emulsion, same colour. You could tell it was different, but not hugely and it was much better to keep clean.

LOL at "the bit by the bin"
I think my DC must throw foodstuff from across the room and miss every time!!

Have just bothered to look at the website and they have loads of colours in the modern emulsion but that Clunch colour looks very nice

Off to purchase many tester pots tomorrow by the looks of things!

thanks for responses

I've just popped a picture of my hall on my profile so any colour suggestions would be welcome - its not a very light area - but cream floor tiles and a creamy/beige stair carpet is all I need to take into account

we used the matt ones. Not shiney. Am about to do the utilty room in wipeable paint, because the bin area is gross.

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 18/02/2008 21:45

wow your hall and garden are lovely!!

AnotherFineMess · 18/02/2008 21:47

We did our kitchen in 'Linen' (ha, feel poncey typing pain names!) Think it was Dulux and it's been great, everything wipes off, even DHs carnage on the wall nearest the hob.

AnotherFineMess · 18/02/2008 21:48

Paint. Not pain names. Sounds kinky.

NomDePlume · 18/02/2008 21:51

cleaninglady, you can buy some clear stuff that goes over the top of any paint you like, it dries clear and makes it really durable. My hall etc is String by F&B. I have had to repaint/touch it up countless times in 2 years.

cleaninglady · 18/02/2008 21:58

Thanks Sparkly my hall will be nice when re-painted in insert poncey paint name here and not full of mucky handprints

I wonder if I could start a competition for the ponceyest paint name used by a mumsnetter

(or kinky "pain" names for AnotherFineMess )

Our hall is painted in 'Cappuccino' and the kitchen is in 'Stone' and 'Choc chip'
