Ooh! Have just had a call from askamum.co.uk and I have won £300 John Lewis vouchers! Made our day!! So ... what to spend it on!!!?

We are struggling with our travel system - it is a dinosaur Quinny Formula (predecessor of the Buzz). I got it second hand as it goes with our Maxi Cosi car seat which I bought new. Even so it weighs a ton and DS (our first child only 17 days old but was nearly 11 lb at birth) doesn't seem to like being in the carrycot bit anyway - and he'll grow out of it pretty quick I reckon.

I am now thinking of getting a Quinny Zapp, the lightwieght stroller which you can also use with our car seat. But it seems to get mixed reviews on here and I can't use the buggy bit til DS is 6 months. I don't need a travel system as we have a good car seat but otherwise does anyone have a recommendation for a good lightweight buggy that you can use from birth.....

Congratulations!!!

I have a zapp and used to use the chassis with the car seat when my daughter was tiny, it was brilliant because it was so small and compact, as you say the pushchair part cant be used from birth and also its not particularly easy to get the fabrics on and off when you want to use the pushchair. so not ideal for swapping between the two, the zapp is a great little town buggy, but its no good for anything other than nice smooth pavement and it doesnt have a basket which is a pain, you cant hang things from the handle as it really unbalances it.

Tha Cabrio fits on the, Buzz which is quite a nice buggy , fits on all the Bugaboo Range, what about one of the new bugaboo Bees? they are light weight quite a good price as well. I cant remember what other buggies the cabrio fits on

Some of the maclaren strollers can be used from birth the new XLR you can get a car seat to use on it as well its a good car seat as well its the Recaro seat and its a good one. I have had a M&P Luna again you can get a car seat for it its a small folding buggy and lies flat from birth its a good buggy as well, the mutsy spider is another good one its small and light weight and lies flat it has a good sized basket to.

pfft - the nursery dept in JL is one of the nicest places to be with a baby - full of glider chairs, pregnant mothers and other people with kids.
Plant yourself somehwere and get dh to testdrive likely looking ones past you!

Is the Formula the three-wheeler thus? If so I'd hang onto it as it'll be great for long walks with a chunky toddler.

A good buy to complement it would be the Maclaren Techno XT, which is suitable from birth but will also last you ages as a small-folding travelling buggy.
