No3 will be getting cast offs from ds and dd but can at least
luxuriate in a brand spanking new pram/pushchair

Here is my list of requirements - pleeeeeease help me make the most of this offer as it's the only big baby purchase dc3 will get so it needs to be a good 'un.

*Reversible pushchair
*Reasonably light (will no doubt have lingering SPD after birth again)
*Adjustable handle for pushing (am shortarse)
*Shopping tray of some description
*Ideally would fit a Kiddyboard, but not vital
*Lie flat enclosed pram (either 2in1 or separate carry cot)
*Can't be massive once folded down, but will hopefully have bigger car soon.

Have been looking at Silver Cross Linear Flash and M&P Skate (but that looks a bit plasticy?)

Not bothered by colours or gimmicks or weird looks - just want a comfy pram/pushchair.

Budget is around about £500

Feel like lottery winner

Had bebeconfort 4in1 thingy with ds 5 years ago and wouldn't buy from them again for various reasons.

Will bump this in the morning.

How about a loola? Ticks all of your boxes and should come in under budget. I would add the extra though and buy a bugaboo as i love my frog so much

Ooh lovely, I am no expert but I have had a couple in my time. Had a M&P 3 in 1 with DD1, found it great but very bulky. Didn't like the fact that it was in seperate pieces after a while but it was a great pram. Both my DD's loved sleeping in the carrycot and it is still as good as new.

Then I purchased a Maclaren Techno xt for a caravan holiday and it still gets used now for DD2 3.5yrs later. Very light, easy to move around and folds up really small. Great for nipping around the shops.

For DD2 my mum bought us a Silver Cross 3D pram/pushchair. Like it but if I had the choice would not choose it again. It is rather heavy and the pram liner bit does not last long as it is not very roomy. They have to be in the pushchair very early imo which I don't like. It is only rear facing in the pram mode.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the ones you mentioned but didn't want your post to go unanswered!

If I were you I would go somewhere like the Glasgow Pram Centre or Kiddicare and try them all out before you decide.

Hi Bobsmum,

Have a look at this website, excellent resource for product review.

www.babyfy.com/index.php/default/product/frmCatID/23/

www.babyfy.com/index.php/features/4656/Stephen-Cohen/Purchasing-Your-First-Pushchair/

Let me know what you got eventually, as no. 3 is due in October, I am also in the market for a new pram.

Thanks,

Char

bobsmum · 15/02/2008 23:04

THanks everyone - that Babyfy site is good

Showed dh the Skate and he seems sold on it. couldn't believe that a boring denim chnage bag comes in at £50 though - would rather get another cheapy spare buggy for that price!

Loolas look ok, but we were really stung by our bebeconfort last time - badly made, countless replacement parts needed and dreadful customer service

Bugaboos look slightly beyond the budget unless I've been looking at the wrong thing?

9 (ish) weeks to go, so better get shopping

You can get new bugaboo cameleons for under £500 (just) on ebay and new geckos for a bit less in the shops.

Reversible pushchair yesReasonably light (will no doubt have lingering SPD after birth again) about 9kgAdjustable handle for pushing (am shortarse)
yesShopping tray of some description fabulous
basketIdeally would fit a Kiddyboard, but not vital will* take own make or othersLie flat enclosed pram (either 2in1 or separate carry cot) yesCan't be massive once folded down, but will hopefully have bigger car soon fairly compact in comparison to other 3in1's but 2 part fold

Glasgow pram centre had the limited edition denim cameleon on special offer for £479.99 which is a lovely colour and matches anything.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

With regards to Mamas and Papas though, I have always found them to be poor quality for the amount they cost and customer sservice shocking and if you ever need a spare part you will pay more than you paid for the buggy in the first place! Just ime though.

What about a lightly used buggy? There are plenty of pramaholics who only use their buggy once or twice then sell on for the next best thing.

9 weeks will fly by x best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy

AussieSim · 24/02/2008 06:58

Go the Stokke Xplory - I would if someone else were paying!
