Looking for a particular type of blackout blind

I think I may have seen an ad for these in a freebie local parenting mag, or something similar. Possibly made by a WAHM? IRRC the blinds are pieces of blackout material, cut to the size and shape of your window, and fitted with suction pads so that you stick them to the glass itself.

Ring any bells for anyone?

Ooooh yes another site I frequent discussed them recently... will go hunting unless someone finds them for you first..

these?

Why not do it yourself. Blackout material can be found at most Haberdashers, and suction cups at most DIY shops.
Good idea, I have a friend who I will mention it to, Baby and shift working DH.

If it helps you can make them really easily... buy blackout material to fit window (about £4/ metre)and fix velcro to the window frame and inside of the blind. We did this with dd's bedroom for ages before I got round to buying a blind/lining her curtains- I didn't bother hemming the edges as it tends not to fray but you could. If you use white velcro you won't see it on the frame. It saves so much money doing it this way!

Not exactly what I remembered - but then my brains are scrambled through lack of sleep! Seem good, though. What was the verdict on them?

good for transporting to holiday venues or grandparents houses because they are adjustable to fit the window without having to cut it down.
Most thought that they wouldn't use them for daily basis at home.

agree with haylstones. You'll get a really snug fit that way but it is a pita taking them away every morning.
I went one step further and bought a baton of MDF the length of the frame, used a staple gun to attach the blackout fabric over the top of the baton and hung strips of ribbon over the top of the fabric and baton. DH screwed the baton to the wall/top of frame and then in the mornings I tied the ribbon into bows and created a very home made version of scalloped style blinds. Does that make sense? It was supposed to be temporary when we first moved house but I think DS had them for about a year!!

we got dd and now ds's from easyblinds and they are brill. Cut to your window fit and velcro it to the frame.... we never remove dd and ds's though.

Only about £25 ish..
