Anyone had their Micralite serviced??

We have a second hand micralite and we really like it.
I have a silvercross 3D too but it seem heavy now aand we are thinking of selling it.
We are using the micralite more and more. I thought a service might prolong it's life a bit more.
I have contact the micralite office to enquire about a service but wondered if anyone had had one and was it worth it?

Have had my micralite for about 2 years. Never had it serviced, but it could probably do with one, it doesn't fold or unfold as easily as it used to.

I'd be interested if anyone else has had one, or if they do any other regular maintenance on theirs. Have you heard back from micralite?

Yes they have contacted me and told me where their sevice centre is.
In Aylesford - which I can get to.
I had hoped it was actually at thier offices which are in the next village to MILs.
In my last email I asked the following questions and will happily pass their replies onto you woodenchair

What would the service consist of?
How much would it cost?
How long would they keep the buggy for?
and Honestly, is it worth it to keep the buggy 'going' for a few more years?

Thanks, Yes I would be interested in any answers they sent to you. Especially what's involved in the service itself.

I just make sure mine is lubricated (oh sounds rude) at all the moving parts regularly, check the screws etc, kinda like checking my bike.

Had it about 3 years and its in great nick though tyres are a bit worn so could prob do with new ones.

Unless service is around 20quid i wouldn't bother.

If it is expensive I won't be going for it, but worth finding out

Hi Ladies I got a reply from Micralite today.

Opinions welcome...

  1. The service would consist of a full inspection of the stroller, ensuring that all parts are present, lubrication where necessary and all bolts checked and tightened. No parts would be replaced until price had been quoted to yourself. The stroller maybe tested on the 'rolling road', if deemed necessary.
  2. The cost of a general service would be £25.00 + VAT - this does not include any parts.
  3. Maximum of a couple of hours - probably less depending on the work required. There is a reception area and an appointment would need to be made for the repair (mornings only).
  4. This is obviously your decision.

I took mine into Kiddicare as it had a puncture (yes I know - duh - can you not fix your own puncture? um, yes I have since learned how!) and they gave it the onceover for free ie lubed wheels and tightened bolts. I didn't even buy it there! They've done it for my Hauck too - I think if they aren't busy in the service centre then they're quite happy to have something to do. They even upgraded the 'elbow's on the Hauck, although for that I believe I did have to show them I bought it there, although it wasnt still under warantee.
If you don't live close though, its not worth the risk of getting down there and them not having such a generous day...
