Thinking of getting one for DD (18 mths) but before I do, can anyone tell me are they for 'drawing' your own pictures - i.e. whatever squiggles she draws will appear or are are the 'pictures' there already and appear once you put water on it?

There seem to be lots around - Bob the Builder, Dora, Thomas etc. but only really want to get her something she can draw herself.
Thank you.

You draw on it yourself - get the Aquadraw mini rather than a character one. You can rollit up when she's not using it.
DS loves his

You can get both sorts.
I love ours because there's no possibility of making a mess and it doesn't even matter if dd sucks the pens

we have a great rainbow one.

Tigerschick · 06/02/2008 15:13

DD was given this one for Christmas.
It is bigger than the fold-out ones but she loves it and she is happy to take just one square with us if we're going out. It is thick enough for her to draw on easily when sitting in her carseat.
I'd definitely invest in some extra pens if you do decide to buy one.

You can get both types.

We have the minimats which just reveal a pre-printed picture (we have Thomas and Bob the Builder ones) which are great for taking out and about with you as they are small and fit on highchairs etc.

We also have the rainbow aquadraw which just reveals whatever they squiggle on it - and it also comes with a 'paintbrush' which you dip into a tub of water and 3 stamps aswell.

DS is 18 months and loves both kinds (and also just sucking the pen as another poster has pointed out!)

all my kids ages 9 to 1 love ours, which is the big one on which you draw your own pictures (this one), and fight over the pens.

Thank you all for your very speedy responses. I'll try and get one asap - DD is currently only stabbing at paper with a crayon or pen so I'm sure one of these will be great.
