I want one, dp doesn't.

Don't have much money or space. But will get one if it will be a worthwhile investment.

Panasonic.

There you go

Oh and no need for milk powder.

TheFallenMadonna · 05/02/2008 19:33

What hunker said.

KatyMac · 05/02/2008 19:34

I use milk (not milk powder) Olive oil & fabulous flour (from a water mill near here)

I have a Kenwood (£50ish) & it's great for ordinary bread

Frankendooby · 05/02/2008 19:35

I love my Kenwood...LOVE IT

emkana · 05/02/2008 19:36

I just bought one for 24.99 from LIDL
friend says she has it and it's okay

Haven't tried it yet myself

Moody007 · 05/02/2008 19:37

nickytwotimes · 05/02/2008 19:38

I have a bread maker gathering dust in a cupboard.

I always mean to use it...

Frankendooby · 05/02/2008 19:39

Best pizza dough ever.I haven't bought bread since i have had this...plus you can sneak things in hat your children might not normally eat.

notnowbernard · 05/02/2008 19:39

Would be looking to make about 3 loaves a week.

Is the bread easy to make? How long does it take etc?

Would not be looking for anything all-singing and all-dancing, just something that makes decent, tasty bread (with no need to add 10g of salt! )

love mine and makes your house smell fab.nothing better to waking up to the smell off fresh bread. great for babysitters to. mine used to love fresh bread to be ready for her to nibble on around 8-9pm!!

Frankendooby · 05/02/2008 19:42

Mine takes 3hours 13 mins for a 500g basic loaf.Then there is 750g and 1lb. for those guessing 3hours 30 and 3 hours 45 ish.

Frankendooby · 05/02/2008 19:44

Thanks for all replies

Think I've won the Breadmaker argument with dp. (To be fair, it never takes much)

Just need to pick one!

Mines a cookworks from Argos £24.99 and 5 years old!!

Easy recipe

In this order
1/2 litre warm water in bottom of pan
500g flour on top
1 tsp salt in one corner 1 tsp sugar in other
sachet of yeast and 25g butter in middle

switch on!

sugar softens the crust and salt makes it crustier.

Blu · 05/02/2008 20:26

KatyMac - do your use Letheringsett Mill flour?
It's fab!

seb1 · 05/02/2008 20:30

Panasonic

KatyMac · 05/02/2008 20:56

Yes Strong bread & organic wholemeal mixed- I really want to start doing the 3 hr bread 'cos it would be better

Can you use non-quick yeast in a bread maker? - as I can't work out the ingredients for quick-yeast

swampster · 10/02/2008 14:59

I wanted a breadmaker, DH said waste of space. Found this: Doris Grant loaf - spelt flour, no kneading, very quick, truly delicious. But use A LOT less salt than recipe asks for.

imaginewittynamehere · 10/02/2008 15:18

imo Panasonic far superior to others I have used. Quick setting fabulous consistent bread in less than 2 hours.

I haven't bought bread since I got a breadmaker - allows me to control ingredients - especially salt levels which is important as dd is a bread monster!!

jalopy · 10/02/2008 15:54

Panasonic.

We got ours about 3 yrs ago and love it. Always in use. Make approximately 3 loaves a week.

Will also add that it's fab waking up to the smell of fresh bread in the morning.

serin · 11/02/2008 13:40

Has to be the Panasonic, we were discussing this at work the other day and we all came out in favour of it!

JaneHH · 11/02/2008 13:56

Def Panasonic with nut+seed dispenser! Also great for making naan bread dough which you then finish off under the grill rather than waiting for a few hours for it to bake
