I hate my new car - What can I get instead for around £6000

I hate hate hate my car. We got it because it was a good price (basically we paid trade price for it so we could re-sell privately it and make about £1000/£1500), but other than the fat that there is more space in the back for the dc's it's a pile of shite.

So what can I get instead that is going to comfortbly house two cars seats in the back and has good boot space that isn't a total 'I've lost my identity mummy wagon'??????????????

Picasso? It is a bit of a mum-mobile though.

ConnorTraceptive · 05/02/2008 15:28

Not so keen on the picasso tbh. probably need to go to a car shop and look around but arggggh hate car sales people.

seat leon

iamdingdong · 05/02/2008 15:48

sorry, phone went and I am expecting imp call! Seat Leon is easily big enough, I had my twins in mine from birth, now 4 and still fit in, boot is decent size, big enough for a family holiday, also its made by VW so yuo get quality without price tag and they're quite groovy too

ConnorTraceptive · 05/02/2008 15:54

Thanks I will have a look at them on line never really looked at seats

What about a mini - they're actually really quite spacious inside - and they hold their price well.

ScoobyDoo · 05/02/2008 15:56

Ford focus or a Focus C-max?

What do you have now?

ConnorTraceptive · 05/02/2008 15:59

We have a Renault Scenic - Size and space wise it's ideal but it really is a miserable car to drive.

Was drawn to it because there are what I would call three full seats in the back rather than the two and half you tend to get.

BMW 330d (not sure if you'd get a second hand one for £6000 though) Fab write up, exciting to drive, loads of space for 2 lo's.

cluckyagain · 05/02/2008 16:04

Oh - Audi A4 or A6 - enormous boots, lovely to drive although they eat petrol a bit.

ScoobyDoo · 05/02/2008 16:05

We have had an Audi A4, they are lovely cars to drive with loads of space, if we could have another one i would tomorrow!

Catkin08 · 05/02/2008 16:08

Minis really aren't spacious in the back at all They're truly fabulous cars but a pain with babies/kids as they only have 3 doors, only 2 seats in back with very little leg room and a tiny boot which you'd struggle to fit almost all pushchairs into. I've just got rid of mine for all these reasons and was pleasntly surprised by the Fiat Panda which DH insisted I replace it with!
Would also recommend a Leon but you'd have to get an older one for £6000

MuffinMclay · 05/02/2008 16:16

Really, really hate our Audi. Things are forever going wrong on it and they cost a small fortune to put right. We've just decided to trade ours in for something else, as yet more things have gone wrong on it (4 visits to the garage since Christmas).

Lovely to drive, and a great boot, and we get very good mpg from it (diesel) though.

ConnorTraceptive · 05/02/2008 16:31

Funnily enough our last car was an A4. Which I did love and although the boot was huge I didn't think the cabin space was that big. Couldn't put a car seat behind drivers seat and have enough room for dh to drive comfortably.

I recommend subaru forester high up driving position, lots of space

Flibbertyjibbet · 05/02/2008 17:02

Would you like my 11 year old Rover 214, I could manage to let that go for your £6k budget Absolutely not a mummy wagon and boot large enough for double buggy.
lovely little runner

ConnorTraceptive · 05/02/2008 17:02

What about an old style Ford Mondeo? You'd probably get a 4 year old one for £6000.

lailasmum · 05/02/2008 20:06

mondeo? I have one its great and spacious enough for kids stuff and a nice drive.
