head & shoulders

fingerwoman · 03/02/2008 22:37

t-gel is good. and head and shoulders tbh.
t-gel is expensive, but you can just use it once a week or so and it should keep it at bay

DrNortherner · 03/02/2008 22:38

Head and shoulders It's paint stripper isn't it?

Off to investigate Nizoral. Thanks.

head and shoulders works for me. hair feels nice. but it is oily and can only wash it every 3rd day otherwise it is greasy a couple of hours after i wash it.

they tell you it's paintstripper so that you buy the kerastase/paul mitchell that they are selling, but in fact all shampoos are 'paint stripper' except the ones that dont contain any sodium laureth sulphate etc, i.e. organic baby ones. which ain't gonna help your dandruff.

try H&S

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 22:44

Nizoral works if it's fungal

I get fungal dandruff in my eyebrows so I always have some & about once every 2 months I use it on my hair & it helps

ScienceTeacher · 03/02/2008 22:45

H&S is Pantene with the anti-dandruff agent added. It's not paintstripper.

DrNortherner · 03/02/2008 22:46

How do you know if its fungal?

OP posts:
ScienceTeacher · 03/02/2008 22:46

dandruff is not a fungus

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 22:50

Well there is the dry scalp stuff which is like flakes, & there is the crusty, smelly stuff that is fungal - it's not really dandruff - it still lots crap tho'

DrNortherner · 03/02/2008 22:52

Oh mine not crusty and smelly thank god

Just itchy, flaky scalp.

The only one that ever worked for me was the Body Shop's Ginger one. Don't know if they still make though as I have been out of the UK for a while.

Scramble · 03/02/2008 22:59

I find that after using one bottle of any brand it stops working as well and I have to swap, so I rotate them, expensive or cheap doesn't matter, except of elvive anti dandruff- didn't like that one.

What ever you use I am sure you know the most importnat thing is to rinse really well.

ooooooo....bodyshop ginger that really did work....but they stopped making it ages ago.

fairydust · 03/02/2008 23:18

i tried everything i get it bad and my head often weaps with it at time until i tried one of lush's shampoo bars its the purple ones not sure of the name and my hair looks and feels great and for £4.50 i got 180 out of a bar

smerchant · 04/02/2008 00:44

Loreal elvive anti dandruff is good. My hubby uses it and it works.

NoBiggy · 04/02/2008 00:46

I use the Body Shop ginger one all the time. Lush do a funny looking shampoo bar that smells like coal tar. Good for getting dandruff under control, and it lasts for ages.

NoBiggy · 04/02/2008 00:48

Sophable, the Body Shop one disappeared for a short while, but it's back, repackaged, horribly expensive, but available. I stocked up just before Christmas.

nappyaddict · 04/02/2008 01:17

have you used the loreal elvive one?

fletchaaarr · 04/02/2008 01:20

another vote for nizoral (and I read recently that a lot of dandruff is fungal, even if you don't know it)
