Vacuum Cleaners - Are cylinders better ? Which likes the Miele Cylinders

I know it is a bit boring but I want to buy a new vacuum cleaner a.s.a.p

The which report reccommends the miele S380 as one of its best buys "This is Miele's self-declared most basic cylinder vac but, with fantastic cleaning results across the board, it has all the brand's classic hallmarks."
As it is the cheapest of the best buys (£100) I am tempted but would like to know- has anyone got one and what do you think, does it make your back ache compared to hovering with an upright? And how expensive are the bags- dh reckons £15 for 5 including a filter

Thanks

No backache and it's quite light. Bought loads of bags upfront so not sure how much they cost. Sure if you buy in bulk like I did ages ago it's a bit cheaper.

my mum has a miele cylinder vacuum cleaner and it's sooooo lovely.
it has so much suck and yet it's really quiet. the handle is adjustable and plenty long enough for me (5'8 ish)
