Arethey any good?

On the rare occassion I make homemade fried chips I have to empty out the deep fa fryer and put new oil in as its been so long since its been used. So I thought this might be healthier and more economical - but its v. expensive. Is it worth it? TIA.

I had the same problem with my old fryer due to lack of use! I got oe of these they are fab BUT they take about 35 mins for homemade chips and I have to feed kids then us because of the size / amount you can put in at a time but kids are teenagers!

Well I suppose 35 mins is equal to 15 mins waiting for oven to heat up, then 20mins cooking time for oven chips.

Are the chips nice?

Hiya

I've had one of these for a few months and we use it alot.

I'm not keen on the chips, but, I'm not that keen on any chips, dh and the dc's however love the chips and prefer them from the actifry to any other kind of chips.

The sausages cooked in it are beautiful, lovely and crispy on the outside. yum!

I have one and am generally pleased with it. The chips I would say are nicer than oven chips but not as good as proper deep fried ones. The advantages are the small amount of oil needed to cook them so it's economical and healthier and it is supremely easy to clean. The 40 minutes it takes to cook them isn't really a problem and I do tend to put more in than the recommended amount so it is ample for 3 of us. You can use it to cook other things too but we haven't really done that yet - we did do some scampi in it which was also very good but it did tend to break up a bit whilst cooking but that didn't spoil the taste.
