Wobble on Urban Detour front wheel

My Urban Detour pushchair has a really nasty wobble on the front wheel which starts if you walk any faster than a really slow crawl. Has anyone else had this? Can it be fixed?

This is my second Urban Detour - I used to have a very old one I bought 7th hand for walking the dogs, it started this front wheel wobble thing so I thought it was past its sell by day. Bought another second hand one - less than 2 years old - and am irked to find it is wobbling as well!

I had this - my bil fixed it but I don't know how - think there's some sort of nut underneath or something? It was easy for him to do and worked perfectly after that. Maybe ask in Mothercare? But don't let them charge you - you can do it yourself as soon as you find someone who fixed their own

Thanks Northernlurker, that is encouraging news. TBH I would pay to have it fixed, it just annoys me senseless at the moment and I hate using it - wouldn't bother but I need it for walking the dogs.

Mine did this too. Dh tightened the nuts and it went away. (I couldn't do them tight enough.) A temporary measure that worked for me was to lock the wheel into its non-swivel position.

DH sorted a terrible wobble on our M&P Sport03 by fixing something underneath the front wheel (it dampens out the vibrations by creating just a little extra friction).
Tightening nuts sounds easier, though, will go back and look at ours!

There is a little thing above the wheel mechanism that causes this if it's not working properly. It needs fiddling with. I don't know how to do it but I bet a bike shop would.

My m&p does this too. I have been using it with the wheel locked because it got too annoying. Good to know it might be fixable!

Have been complaining to DH for ages about this and just shown him this thread - he is now looking at the wheel nuts and things with his tool kit! Yes! Have shamed him into looking at it at last!

Mine did that, I took it to Mothercare and they fixed it in a second. Mind you that was 11 years ago. But I bet they still would.

NorthernLurker · 29/01/2008 21:26

Result! I think it was nut underneath the footplate maybe? Reading the other posts has reminded me I used to put mine in fixed wheel mode to get round it as well!

bagpuss · 29/01/2008 21:34

Take the front footplate off and there is a nut underneath. This should just need a little tightening (not too much or the wheel won't swivel at all) and the wobble will be gone. Doesn't take two minutes to fix . (Mothercare person told me this when I owned mine 5 years ago)

I am going to try this tomorrow.

Buggy fixed and wheel no longer wobbles! Thanks to you all for your help on this one - it was so lovely to go for a dog walk today and not feel grumpy after 50 yards

Brilliant - well done

Chaotica · 31/01/2008 21:01

Thanks, people. I've lived with this for ages. Now I know how to fix it (another person who's had the front wheel locked whenever possible).
