just that really have just been looking at getting a moses basket for baby number 3 due in sept and have come accross these

they look really good and say that they help with colicy babies and babies with reflux , both ds and dd suffered with this really baddly until they were 12 weeks old and ds would only sleep in someone's arms, dd would want to be rocked to sleep in her rocker chair and then we had to carefully transfer her into the moses basket

just wondering if anyone had got one and you thought of them, they are about £50 on ebay at the moment although they have a couple of days left but have plenty of time to save uo for one just want to know if they are worth it??

Yes, they are fantastic, cant recommend them enough. In fact, I bought a bed/cot for my LO one so decided to sell the amby, but panicked and nearly cancelled the sale, as I thought I wouldnt be able to get him to sleep without the Amby. Once they get a bit bigger & can bounce themselves, the spring does make a bit of noise, but you get used to it. They are totally worth it, even at full price, I expect the one on ebay will go up in price in the last few minutes, even secondhand they seem to hold their price. Good luck bidding !

how old can you use them upto? is it until they can sit up or longer

Amby website says birth to a year (or 29lbs )I used mine for about a year, he could sit up before that though. It wasnt a problem as I had it right next to my bed, and he usually would play or cry before sitting up. Probably not so good if they are in another room though. Its also great instead of a travel cot etc - easy to dismantle, and they get to sleep in their own bed to.

mustsleep · 30/01/2008 10:32

that's what i was thinking

we only have a 2 bed house and dd and ds already share a room and so we are hoping to move soon, but our house is not even up for sale yet so chances are we will have to have the baby in our room for some time and this would be perfect, will have to get bidding!!

Have also been thinking about getting one for ds who is 21 weeks but doesn't sleep well at all due to reflux.

Was wondering SS, how did your lttle one adjust to sleeping on a normal mattress after being in the hammock?

SabaSaba · 31/01/2008 09:53

tbh it did take a while for him to adjust, not long though. I think he was so used to sleeping all snuggled up, and with the rocking etc, it must have felt a bit like when they fall asleep in your arms, so to suddenly go to sleeping flat, with room all around him, must have felt a bit odd.It did help that I had a bedside cot on wheels, so i just rocked the cot if he woke up.

We love our hammock, used it till he was 8months.
It is such a bonus that it packs smaller than his travel cot so he could sleep in his own 'bed' when visiting relatives.
TBH we have more trouble now settling him in his travel cot than we did moving him into his normal cot from the hammock, although that was a pleasant surprise

lancarra · 01/02/2008 11:31

I used one for my son he had reflux and he loved it and
they look so nice i am advertising it in the for sale section if anyone is interested

WezzleWoo · 01/02/2008 12:20

i might take you up on that Lancarra.

I'm still debating whether to get one.

Ds sleeping is getting so bad I have been letting him sleep in his car seat through the night these last 2 nights as that is the only place he seems to be able to settle. Still only for a couple of hours at a time but far better than in his cot.

Did you use one because your LO had reflux?

WezzleWoo · 01/02/2008 12:21

doh! just re-read your post L

may see you on the for sale thread later

TillyScoutsmum · 01/02/2008 12:23

Another vote here - they're great. DD used her until she was about 8 months (but she's a big baby). No colic, no reflux and 5 hour sleep patterns from day 1.

Have just bought the bouncer thing from ebay so she's still using it..

toolly · 01/02/2008 16:39

Buy it, worth their weight in gold especially if you put them in it right from the beginning. Got it for DD after the shenangins DS put (and still is putting )us through. He is still unable to settle himself back to sleep when he wakes. DD on the other hand learnt that skill very early on in the hammock and was able to bounce herself back to sleep. She slept 5 hours straight the first night.
We moved her when she looked uncomfortable in it (just under a year) into her cot and she managed the transition very easily.
I am keeping mine just in case a third comes along.
