Calling all pramaholics - Help me find an 'upright' buggy / stroller!!!

I have two prams, a hauck infinity, which has both good and bad points, and a micralite, for which can be said the same thing, but both have done their fair share so I don't want to knock them.

However... what I want now is something that has a fully upright position, neither of which these has. DS is 10 months and even in the Hauck he's constantly straining to sit upright to see whats going on. I need something that moves to the 90 degrees position, as well as having a recline.

I don't want to spend too much (50 quid max is what I'm thinking although I'd go over that if necessary) as it would be just an about town number. I see mothercare has a sale on Obaby Atlas's - can anyone tell me if they go upright? They don't have them instore, only online. Or the Chicco Winter London and Cosatto Swift lite are on sale at kiddicare - any comments on those?

Second request is that it doesnt 'tip' and has a decent shopping basket.

Anyone got any ideas? I think a trip to Kiddicare is in order, but I'd like to hear opinions first. Thanks.

oh, I forgot to say I had a quinny zapp and sold it immediately as I didnt like it at all even though it seemed quite upright.

I had a Maclaren Volo and it was pretty upright - in fact that was why I chose it!
They are £39.99 on Kiddicare atm!

lynniep · 28/01/2008 17:35

Thanks for that. I ended up going to kiddicare today and trying out every single buggy, much to the annoyance of my ds. The only one that really did a 'right angle' was the silver cross pop, which I bought.

All the others had a slight incline at their highest point apart from one other and I can't remember what that was but I think it was a Chicco of some kind (its not on the website). But they only had one left of those and it was a bit flimsy and fluorescent orange.

Oh I'm sooo bad. The pop was £84. Just a tad over my £50 limit. Right, I'd better go check out reviews before I actually open the box...

I wish I'd seen this earlier! I would say don't get a Swift Lite, they are horrible to push, really bad ergonomoics that means there's a nasty 'tilting point' where you are supporting the whole weight of it just in order to get up a kerb - let go and it will fall, but any less of an angle ans the front won't lift iyswim.
Hated it!
Chicco goes very upright imo, also lasts well. If you don't get on with the Pop, get a chicco - on sale at Argos too

lynniep · 29/01/2008 13:27

actually now you mention it, think it was a cosatto swiftlite and not a chicco that was the other upright one I mentioned. Didnt get it because it seemed v. flimsy compared to the pop.

Pop v. good so far although basket bit smaller than I would have liked and not accesible when reclined. Would say steer clear if youre smaller than me though (5'5") as the handles are quite high. Hood is great - nice and big. DS liking the uprightness of it and I can put his feet up so they're not dangling free. It copes with me hanging shopping on the handles which is what I was after too.
