Best Charity Shops in London

May I recommend the Oxfam shop on Earl's Court Road. Picked up some fab bargains in there yesterday (dp got a beautiful Italian suit for £7 and I got a French Connection skirt for £2.75 and a cotton/linen Formes cardigan for £2.99). Items are not individually priced, eg all skirts are £2.75 and all suits are £7, so there are excellent bargains to be had.

Any other top tips for charity shops would be most welcome

hi spacemonkey, I used to get great bargains from the charity shops in Richmond but can't remember which ones they are - we used to go over there specially. Hope you find your jeans x

I had fantastic stuff from a shop called something like All Aboard on a street off Praed Street in London. Probably some dodgy organisation but the clothes were fabulous.

I've just looked, it's Spring Street, W2.

Thanks for the tip, I love charity shops.

spacemonkey · 29/11/2004 17:44

oo thanks ab, i'll have a look for that one

dp and I were beaming like cheshire cats after finding our bargains yesterday - we reckon we got £300 worth of clothes for £15

oxfam in dalston is brilliant

spacemonkey · 29/11/2004 17:54

dalston sounds like the place to be with cheap food and great charity shops

Ealing's charity shops are good, and there's one on Acton High Street, opposite the George and Dragon pub, that always used to have great stuff, though I've not lived in London for 3 years now. I got a pair of caterpillar boots for £4 and an original Biba dress for something silly like a fiver once.

Branster · 29/11/2004 18:12

wow spacemonkey that sounds like a fantastic charity shop. will deffinetly have a look, I have to go to London next week as it happens so will take a detour.
I'm afraid I have no knowledge of other places like this one. We have loads of charity shops around here but they only sell very, very ugly clothes and tatty things, books for children and toys are not bad though. can't have everything I suppose.
have you looked on ebay for jeans in your size?

spacemonkey · 29/11/2004 18:13

It really is good, they had Jigsaw stuff, Formes stuff, a pair of old cowboy boots (too big for me though) - of course there was a lot of tat too, but well worth a look

it's really near earl's court tube too

The Cancer Shop in Crouch End recently had A LOT of brand new Gap things, I got a great leather bag for 8.50, and they had the coat my friend had bought that week(at the store for 60)for 30! That was the first time I had seen so many very nice things in the shop, but was impressed as they were all new and this season(or just from the fall!)

jane313 · 29/11/2004 18:31

My friend has just started working in Portobello and was raving about the charity shops around there and she had a very nice black cardigan and handbag. Not sure brands/lables though. I suppose the posher the area the posher the clothes.

spacemonkey · 29/11/2004 18:32

There are good charity shops in notting hill and high st ken but they are expensive
