It's absolutely bloody brilliant! Order anything at all marked Prime, no matter how cheap, and it comes next day special delivery!!!

I joined just before Christmas too, when I was ordering yards of stuff most of which might not have arrived in time because of waiting for the rest - as it was it came in lots of little parcels, all in time.

Martin Lewis reckoned not worth it unless you order lots of low value items because of the free del over £15 anyway.....There is a link I will try to find.
I was seriously tempted until I saw that. Glad it is working for you though WW.

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 11:54

He said this:
Amazon's pushing its new, free one-day delivery service costing £49 annually; yet spend over £15 in one go and you get free super saver delivery anyway. You'd need to buy 34 DVDs or CDs, or 18 books from Amazon in a year without exceeding the £15 threshold for it to be worthwhile. Ordering lots of single cheap things on a whim is what's making it worth it, VP!

And it's next-day delivery, so much easier to make sure you're in when they come.

However here is a money-saving hint: buy through the cashback-rewards link and get 4% cashback on all your amazon stuff - I found this just after I had ordered about £400-worth of things for Christmas, and it was 6% then

(And I still keep forgetting to click through - this is the problem with buying stuff on a whim!)

Oh, top tip. Will have to remember that one. Thanks.

WendyWeber · 22/01/2008 12:01

With the free super saver though, in theory it all waits until the latest item is ready for despatch, which is OK if you're in no hurry but if you want something sooner you're going to have to pay delivery charges anyway - I know that in the past they have in fact sent bits separately but you can't rely on it.

Prime costs £49; with the order I placed in mid-December, to get it all sent for guaranteed delivery before Christmas the charges would have been more than that, so it's paid for itself already as far as I'm concerned

Yes I joined before Christmas too-have already made lots of use of it. I tended to pay for postage anyway, even if item was over £15.00, because of the delay in sending it on the "free delivery". Adult sons can use it also, so well worth it for us.

PurpleFrog · 06/02/2008 11:04

I was wondering about Amazon Prime. Amazon have really expanded their range over the past year or so, and I bought a lot of stuff from them before Christmas, managing most of it on the Super Saver rates (some of it with fingers crossed and an eventual sigh of relief). However, if I had Prime I could buy last-minute kid's Birthday presents without worrying about things not arriving in time... I still haven't weighed up whether £49 is worth it or not.

MrsTweedy · 06/02/2008 11:09

Dp did this just before Christmas and it has been fantastic. Everything comes the next day, we can both use it and it means you can order a book at a time instead of waiting to make it up to £15. Perfect when you just want to get a small thing & especially if more than one person in the house uses it.

Love it, use it lots
