Family diaries - who sells them?

Can you help? I am trying to find a family diary to keep in the kitchen. The kind with four or five columns where you can write everyone's names and activities. I'd really prefer a diary to a calendar but have had no luck so far. Anyone seen them in the shops?

What about the Dairy Diaries that are usually available from the Milkman - they usually have recipes, first aid information etc. - not sure if they have separate columns for different members of the family though.

Would an appointment book do like the type they have in a hairdressers.I imagine you would get one at staples.Or I saw a lovely idea in a magazine where the whole of one wall in the kitchen was blackboard slate for writing everyones activities on.

Good idea about the Dairy one, but I haven't seen a milkman round our streets for ages. Not sure about the blackboard - my dh is a bit of a style-freak and wouldn't like scribble (as he'd call it!) all over the walls.
I'll try Staples next time I'm nearby. If anyone sees one in a shop, let me know please

I think I have found what you are looking for - I had a look because I agree that a calendar is not always what you need - have a look here - I think I may order one myself!!

Jaybee

I can't make the link work. Could you please post the name of the website

Jaybee · 05/11/2002 16:22

I don't think that link works - trying again

bee, why not a calendar? Boots do a lovely family calendar with 5 columns, a page to a week and (as long as you remember to turn it over in good time on Sundays) it's all right there in front of you!

Also it's only £3 or £4 - I had a look at Jaybee's link and it is a lovely book but it's £11.50!

bee · 06/11/2002 09:32

Janh, I know it may sound silly, but I hate stuff all over the kitchen walls - we already have a big fridge full of school notes and shopping lists held up with magnets, and I want to be able to tidy stuff away every now and then. That's why a diary is better.

Oh, OK - that makes sense - you can keep appointment cards and things tucked in it too I suppose. We have them stuck on the fridge with magnets and never remember to take them with us!

Have you seen those sticky memo boards they sell in GLTC? They're the size of a small noticeboard but just stick to the wall, and your memos stick to the front. I have mine on the wall (my house is just a mess so a few more things on the walls don't make any difference!) but you could put them inside cupboard doors and then you wouldn't have to have the bits of paper on the fridge either.

Jaybee · 06/11/2002 14:38

I agree that £11.50 is a bit steep - could you not make one? If you know anyone who has access to a binder machine it would be fairly easy in either Word or Excel and you would have your family names already in place - in fact I will have a play in a while and try and make one for my lot!!

You're all great. I liked the Dodopad one but thought it was a bit pricey. Then I found the website of the dairy diary and ordered one for £4.50 plus postage. Its on dairydiary.co.uk
Thanks, jaybee for the suggestion.

I am just putting the finishing touches to one I am making myself in Word - we have a print room at work and I am sure they will bind it for me - thanks for the idea Bee - I have always used a calendar before but like the idea of a diary - if anyone wants the said Word document emailing to them please get my address from Mumsnet and let me know - Mumsnet diaries and calendars that would be another way to raise funds!!!

I use a palm pilot and so keep my diary on the computer and on my palm. I print off the family diary every week or month and I add things all the time, and constantly print a new one. I sometimes laminate it and stick it on the fridge with dry wipe pen, everyone writes things on it and then every so often I update and print off a new one

I liked the look of the DoDo one, as I also like tom write things down, to do lists etc.
