We are looking at the Vax turboforce ultra, as it is available to us at just £45 which seems like a bargain.

We don't need to replace our vac as such, but after 2 years firgure we would notice the improvement for just £45 investment.

Anyone got a vax?

Is this like or similar to the old original vax machines?

We have just got rid of a vax after 13 yrs service. I was bought second hand then so who knows how old it actually was!!

We had the turbo brush attachement as we have pet hairs to deal with. Parts were easy to find and cheap. Only got rid of it as hose broke and we were moving overseas and couldn't be bothered. Picked up dirt well and carpet cleaner was ok for small stains but not really a good idea for larger areas of carpet. Have also had a mark 1 dyson hoover and now on a Miele. Dyson seems best for Labrador hairs, Miele is easiest to use and Vax was best if a stain occurred....Now refined my Hoover collection to just the Miele!!!

Ah a timely thread

I'm just going out to buy a vax. We have owned our hoover for ooo - 20 hours. And am taking it back but thats another post!

I am not talking about their cleaners, I am talking about a vacuum (i.e. sucky hoover for dry carpets!!!)

BK, if you know anyone with a Makro card they have the Vax turboforce ultra 1850 at £47ish next week!!!

They are really noisy. I have one and I hate it. the turbo attachment is wonderful at getting pet hairs and crap out of carpets and rugs and even for the car but other than that it feels very cheap. Several (non-essential parts) have broken, which means that it's a miserable thing to use but not broken enough to get something else, IYSWIM. Have had to glue one of the hose bits back on and the tube keep falling out. It is really heavy and falls over backwards when I am using the attachment.

Next time I will not only go back to a cylinder, I will spend the extra money and get a Miele.

We've got one, a 1600 watt swift bagless. It's not bad considering it was only cheap, we've had it 18 months and nothing has broken yet, plus it is much easier to lug up and down stairs than the Dyson we had before and doesn't take up much space. The only criticism I've got really is that it blows air out the front very violently which means any birthday cards etc will go flying! I've no idea if all models do that though.

SlightlyMadShrek · 22/01/2008 23:56

My model does that too, so already used to that. If the suction power matches the blowing force it is a stunner .

I've got one and it is not very good. Have only couple of rugs and rest wooden and it does fine for hardfloor but not very good when you use it on carpet!! As for the noise i have to hoover when DS is out with DH as he goes into hysterics with the noise - he's not scared by anything else tho!

The hot air from it is pretty forceful right enough.

Sorry but i thought mine was a bargain when i bought it til i got it home
