Hi there ... I read your reply on the other post re the Jane pram and from what you say, you obviously sell baby equipment ... so may I be really cheeky and ask your advice please!

I'm expecting twins in May. Have a P&T with doubles kit but it won't be suitable for two newborns. My ideal pram is something that I can use as a travel system for the first 6-8 months. There is very little choice that I can see - Jane PowerTwin, Twin Two, iCandy Pear and the new pram, the Zoom.

Do you know of any others, would you recommend one of these above the other, would you steer well clear of any of them? Bugaboo don't do a double, do they?

Or should I forget the convenience of being able to attach car seat to chassis and look at a side by side ... and there opens another pot of choices!

Hope you don't mind me asking and would very much appreciate any advice you can give.

Hi Millie, wow so surprised to see a thread looking for me!!

OK, I'm afraid the twin buggy market is very limited compared to the singles. You may have to compromise a little. With more and more twin births these days you'd think the manufacurers would tap into this growing market and come up with a few new things. As it is this is the best I can come up with.

As far as I know, the only doubles you can use with car seats are the Jane ones and I Candy Pear. For my own money I would not touch either of these with a big stick. However, I know the travel system thing is very important to some people so I guess its horses for courses.

The best Double buggy on the market today is the Mountain Buggy Urban. You can have a twin carrycot here which may be more comfortable for low birthweight twins than just the reclined seats. IMO the the twin carrycot is easier to fit to the chassis than the two single ones (roomier interior too). The seats are suitable to use from birth if you prefer. They may need padding out with sheepskin liners to make them a bit more newborn-friendly though. Unfortunately there is no option to fit car seats and use it as a travel system. They seem absolutely huge when you first see them (but are in fact only 5cm wider than a single MB Urban) but I have fitted them into the boot of many small cars (most memorably a VW Polo for a lady who was determined to have one!). I know MB are at the most expensive end of the market but they are truly the best that money can buy, and the most reliable.

Also, take a look at www.practicalpushchairs.co.uk/pages/Out-n-About_Nipper_Double-360_Pushchair.shtml Out 'n' About Nipper Double 360]]. A very good buggy, a little lighter in weight but the same width as a MB but has a few less features, no carrycot option and small shopping baskets. Lots of our customers buy them and love them.

Don't bother looking at the Phil & Teds twin. I don't quite understand it but the twin is nowhere near the build quality of the E3 or Sport and we've had loads of them back for repairs. Loads of hastle you don't need!

Its late now and I can't think of anything else right, will add to this later if thats OK?

T&C

Sorry, can't make the Nipper link work, have tried though.

Thanks a million for all the info TeaandCake.

I appreciate your honesty regarding the Jane prams although it's disappointing that the quality doesn't live up to expectations.

We'll certainly take a look at the Mountain Buggy (my BIL had one when their twins were born) and the Nipper.

It's such a pity about the car seats and I guess that's what will push our final decision. Our lifestyle is such that although we will walk a fair bit, it would be oh so handy to be able to attach carseats to chassis when doing messages about town, IYKWIM.

Thanks for all your advice Teaandcake!

Sorry to butt in here! I've been obsessively looking at doubles recently (not that I'm having twins, just... obsessive!)
.

Anyway have you seen this? It's a Bebe Confort. I've seen one in RL but was across the road so didn't get to have a good luck. It's kind of long but looked cool, practical. Not sure if you can have two carrycots thouge, but I think you can have two car seats. There's also the First Wheels City Twin... My friend has the single and it's ok, but quite cumbersome... Again, not sure about having two car seats.

I thought the Zoom looked nice, not sure what the problems would be there though, haven't seen it in RL!
