Hi the hunt for a reasonably priced car seat for dd2(2)continues.

I tried the seat in the link and got it to fit firmly but as soon as she was sat in it it was very loose and moveable. The man on the stall came and did it too but it was still loose. He said that no stage 3(9months-10 years)would fit tightly.

Was a nice seat and only £45 ,shame.

Anyway my question is that is the man correct or was it just not a good fit?

TBH think you are safer with a stage 3 that suits her weight and height than a stage 1,2,3 which have been slammed for completely folding in a crash.

BUt I wouldn't use a stage 3 with a 2yo (?). I think they still need to be in a 5 point harness at that stage?

I have the fisher price seat you mentioned at the start. I can get a very good tight fit in my VW Golf. Infact a tighter fit than my britax first class which ds outgrew a year ago. However I am now finding that the harness is to small. My ds is only 2.7 but weighs over 15kgs and he is 98cms tall. I to am toying with the idea of changing the seat so it uses the adult seat belt, but am worried about how safe that would be.

However at the moment the harness straps don't come down above his shoulders they sort of come round the side, so they probably aren't very safe. I'm going to go to my local independant nursey store at the weekend to see what they recommend. I'll let you know if I get any good advice.
