DOLL'S PRAM FOR A 1YO. It's been done before i know.... but please share your knowledge / tips!

I don't want a pram that a 3 year old would get. I want a toddler one!

Probably a chunky plastic one (although very much like the wooden ones - but probably too similar to our brick trolley idea...). The only chunky plastc one i can find is in argos, but it's a winnie the pooh one, and i'm not a fan of unnecessarily branded toys...

What pram did you get for your 1yo?

We have this one that Mamaspanx put up earlier.

It's really sturdy and it's strong as well because my 18 month old can climb inside it and sit beaming at the rest of us.

When she's not pushing it round, I use it to store soft toys out of the way.

I was a bit sceptical about the price but it's well worth it. There are some cheaper stroller type ones at toddler group and they tip so easily and there are nasty folding mechanisms to get fingers trapped in.

nemo - interesting to hear the WTP one isn't so sturdy... i think the argos one you linked to is the twin version of the one SMS(2!) was raving about and which i'm very tempted by...

My DD got the Baby Nurse pram when she was 1. She's now almost 9 and it still gets played with in the summer when all the "babies" and prams get an airing!!

kbear - that's very sweet and the kind of thing i had in mind. where can i buy it?

I googled Baby Nurse pram.

Kbear · 17/01/2008 22:27

It was £9.95 I think.

It was really steady as a walker too (although DD was walking at 9/10 months) but DS used it for practice too and it never tipped up.

Kbear · 17/01/2008 22:28

wah, I want a 1 year old toooo

ja9 · 17/01/2008 22:28

doh - ignore that wee question, just gone to tutco website! how sturdy is it iyo? i'm guessing not very by the price?

Well it's lasted 9 years and you would never know. All that is scratched is the wheels as you would expect and the material covers are as good as new. Fantastic value for money!

ja9 · 17/01/2008 22:32

oh i just realised tutco is a second hand site. hmm, not sure if that sways my thinking back to the argos one set...

The WTP one is a bit rubish. The handles havn't lasted on DTDs.

Yes the twins one is the partner to the one I was raving about (was I really that bad???).

I may see if I have a pic to air tomorrow afternoon for a bit, show off my lovely DD3 for the cause....will be a short time airing though (30 mins maybe at about 2pm)...

Nemoandthefishes · 17/01/2008 22:34

ja9 problem with the winnie the pooh one is the handle and if your little one is only just walking it will tip on her or the handle shifts as the grips dont hold it in very well.
For that age look at a pram where handle doesnt move as they lean on it as much as push it. The newer pram we have has a sturdy handle but the seat bit tilts up and down so they can lay dolls flat etc. Also no straps to mess around with.

SMShrek - did i miss the airing? i was working today. anyway i bought that set and am just about to take it out of the box to see if it's as nice as you say!!

didn't order it from that website, bought it in our local toyshop. am sat here assembling it right now, so will let you know what it's like!

ja9 · 20/01/2008 21:07

great! we have 2 lovely wooden toy shops around about and i was just going to double check with them before ordering it. was yours similar price?

OP posts:
beautifuldays · 20/01/2008 21:36

i paid £29.99

just finished putting it together, it's lovely, maybe a little bit high, but ok, and looks like it will last forever

ja9 · 20/01/2008 21:39

aw that's great. what are the wee covers like that come inside it? have you got her a doll? i was thinking of my first baby annabell - i bought it for dn when she was 1...

OP posts:
beautifuldays · 20/01/2008 22:28

the soft cushiony thing isn't anything special, just a bit of padded pink material, but it's nice enough and looks very sweet. we got her a ragdoll for christmas so she will have that, think we also have a baby annabell lurking around somewhere that i bought for ds but he never played with!

baby annabell might be a bit cram, ped in their tho, you would have to sit her up rather than lie her down iykwim!
