Where can I find a nice girl's tiara / princess crown before this Saturday?

Any ideas? I've tried ebay but there's actually very little. Dd's invited to a princess party and her crown has broken into tiny pieces this evening. It was lovely but it came from France when she was 2 so I can't replace it.

Anybody seen any nice ones around?

There is a little girl section that has fairy wings and tiaras - deffo

imaginaryfriend · 14/01/2008 23:28

Not a lot of choice though?

and I think I might have to order online as I don't know if I'm going to get into town before Saturday. Eek!

Do you have a nice toyshop nearby? We've got lots of crowns/tiaras!

imaginaryfriend · 14/01/2008 23:35

You have? Where? Do you want to sell one?

Not a nice toyshop nearby, no. I'm in the midst of scummy SE London. We have Tesco, River Island, Dorothy Perkins, Mothercare, Adams, WH Smiths. No nice toy shop. No nice anything shop.

if you want a decent non-plasticcy one (my dd's have accidentally broken 3 or 4 they got at xmas in the last week) - I would have a look at a bridal shop - lots of little bridemaids wear little tiaras etc these days and they are not always expensive.

MAMAZON · 14/01/2008 23:39

everywhere. woolies, claire's, debenhams, toys r us......anywhere that sells girls toys or accessories.

even our £1 shop sells them

MarsLady · 14/01/2008 23:41

IF... happy to pop one down to you. Got a free(ish) week. I'm up in Norf London. Don't mind hopping a tube as then I'll get to finish my book.

lovelymarslady at aol dot com (if you want me to).

imaginaryfriend · 15/01/2008 14:24

That's really kind of you ML. I'm going to try to find an hour to pop to the shops tomorrow and if not I may well take you up on your offer! I've seen that Debenhams do a really pretty one that dd would love so I'm going to try there first.

disney store

(how is dd doing at school btw? dd1 is now fine and loves it , still a bit hit and miss on eating her lunch)

bundle · 15/01/2008 14:41

i got the girls some in the sale in m&s for a fiver, they'd been £15 and are "proper" grown-up ones

Oliveoil · 15/01/2008 14:42

I got a set from Tesco's at Christmas, they were £1.54, tiara and set of earrings

not sure if they still do them though

imaginaryfriend · 15/01/2008 18:26

HI Oo, I'm so glad to hear that, I keep wondering how she's doing. dd's doing much better too. She still seems to spend a lot of time playing alone but she doesn't cry or anything like that. I think it's going to take her a while to 'bond' with other children, she sticks to waiting until lunchtime when an old friend of hers from a different year 'might' be 'available' to play. Which is about 50% of the time. If she's not playing dd hangs by herself.

Having said that she keeps being asked to birthday parties so someone somewhere must like her at school!!

The trouble with the Disney store ones is that they're 'themed', I was looking for something decidedly non-Disney! (dd doesn't do Disney. Yet).

bundle, proper 'grown up' ones are what we're after. Only in kids(ish) size of course.

the M&S ones fit my 7 and 4 year olds fine(they were for when they were bridesmaids)

imaginaryfriend · 15/01/2008 18:29

Ok, I think I can fit in M&S and Debenhams in one visit to Oxford Street at lunchtime tomorrow.

this is less ornate than the ones I got for the girls. ours had lots of little pearls etc standing up higher than these diamante

imaginaryfriend · 15/01/2008 18:44

Yes, dd's sense of subtlety doesn't stretch that far. She'd call that an Alice band!

MarsLady · 15/01/2008 22:36

I'll be in the area with a client IF. If you email me I'll give you my mobi so if you have no success you can grab a tiara from me. I have a lovely gold one.

Oh I'll be at the Primark end... Marble Arch!

imaginaryfriend · 15/01/2008 22:43

Ok ML, mailing you now!

OP posts:
MarsLady · 16/01/2008 17:51

Well you didn't call or text so I'm guessing you were successful (or stuck at work).

SofiaAmes · 16/01/2008 17:53

Primark usually has them.
