Good skin care products that won't dry your skin

My skin gets very very dry, but I also have dreadful blackheads. I usually use a cleanser for 3-4 days, but then have to rest for 3-4 days as my skin gets too sore, and then repeat. I moisturise every day. Can anyone recommend a real blitzer of a cleanser that I can use daily that will also not dry my skin?

I would say your skin gets sore as the product us too harsh.

It may be worth taking a step back and using good natural products that won't terrorise your skin. Do you have a health shop near you? I know it sounds all dungarees and sandals but I feel that alot of the hard chemicals in alot of facial products make things worse especially if you are slightly sensitive to the ingregredients. Even products like 'Simple' aren't. If no health shop - I think Lush do no added crap products at a resonable price - have a chat with the sales consultant and maybe get samples.

Olay Cleansing Milk and toner.

If you have enough of a budget can I recommend that you go and have a facial mapping with a dermalogica facial - they will then advise a skincare routine and products to suit your skin - I struggled for years to find products that really worked for me, but now have a really good cleanser and moisturiser that have worked wonders on my skin!

sopierosie - I too use Dermalogica - tis fab stuff.

bubblejumping · 15/01/2008 15:08

I have to agree with the dermalogica - I use the skin kit for sensitised skin and my skin has never been better. - The Jersey beauty Company do them for 15.00 which I think is a bargain.

sophierosie · 15/01/2008 15:09

I know - it really has made a difference to my skin! Tis a bit pricy though but well worth it I think!

Do you get yours online? I've been using this website but am thinking about buying bulk from ebay!

bossykate · 15/01/2008 15:14

another vote for dermalogica.

bubblejumping · 15/01/2008 15:19

Yes, I have hd a look at that site before but Jersey Beauty Company always seem less expensive then every where else I have looked. - I think it's to do with the tax thing. Its online anyway, I'd do a link but I dont know how. I am trying to get all the range - If hubby complains, I tell him that it's so I am delicious when I am 50!

you can find it here if you are interested, www.jerseybeautycompany.co.uk.

Another vote for Liz Earle stuff - it's lovely, natural, and won't dry your skin out. Have heard good things about Lush Ultrabland here too, but haven't tried it myself. Lush stuff is generally very nice though, and like the Liz Earle, v natural etc.

mummyvontummy · 15/01/2008 16:52

Where can I go for face mapping? Had a look on the website and my horrid areas are my forehead, chin and nose, but don't know which products I'm meant to choose! xx

Enjoy!

sophierosie · 15/01/2008 19:19

Thanks for that link - I'll have a look and try not too order too much - I tell DH it's an investment into my future!

Enjoy your facial MVT - You'll feel so relaxed when you come out - they'll show you all the products that they use and will ask you if you want to buy any there and then - I just bought the most suitable skin kit for my skin type and then bought larger sizes online.

littlelamb · 15/01/2008 19:58

Lush Ultrabland is wonderful. I have been using it for about a month now as pregnancy has really messed my skin up and it has done amazing things! All natural ingredients too, and it will not dry out your skin.

Furball · 15/01/2008 20:18

also don't get roped into buying products you know you won't use. Just go for basics to start. You can always get folk to buy you extras for birthday/christmas.

That Jersey link for active moist is only for the smaller size so would make it more expensive buying 2 than just buying high street prices

mummyvontummy · 16/01/2008 14:39

He he, am booked in for Friday, and just in the nick of time as my face has doubled in badness overnight! Got a 4 hour train journey with dd afterwards so am going to be relaxed about it for the first time ever-I am so excited! xxx

Another vote for liz earle - its amazing.

sophierosie · 16/01/2008 22:15

Ooh lovely - enjoy your facial!

At the end they'll give you a sheet with all the different products they've used. I started off with the cleanser, moisturiser and daily microfoliant, then have been adding other bits to treat myself throughout the year!

I think you can justify it as you'd spend just as much money trying out lots of different products to find ones that suit you!
