Baby Wipes

Just a quick question:

I know that babywipes shoudln't be used on small babies because of the chemicals etc and at the moment i am obviously still using just water and cotton wool on DD (6 weeks). However, for the odd occasion when i'm out or at home feeling lazy, would Johnson's Baby alcohol free and fragrance free wipes which are "suitable for sensitive skin" be ok to use? At what age do wipes become ok to use on a regular basis?

I used wipes all the time with DS and he suffered some bad nappy rash in his time and i'm wondering if that could have been linked to the wipes. Back then tho (1990) i'm not sure they would have been so "skin friendly" as what they are now??

I do use baby wipes but I am not sure that there is a set age that they are OK to use. The chemicals are still present no matter waht age and if that is a concern for you then perhaps you could try the Earth Friendly baby wipes? You can get them most places, or do as they did in the old days and wipe the worst off with the nappy and toilet roll and then wipes them over with a flannel (my Mum used to carry a bum flannel in a tupperware box she tells me).

i didnt use then on my babies whilst they still had the 'newborn' look about them. by six weeks they had lost that, and i was using wipes regularly.
dsis used wipes on her tiny newborn. he seems fine.
