Does anyone know how to change the element on a Dualit 4-slice toaster?

The new element came without instructions. I had to do this about 2 years ago, but didn't keep the instructions. I've taken the base plate off, but can't remember or see how to get that metal edge off to release the elements. And I can't get a screwdriver into the screws that hold the elements in place because of the angle. Help!

I have got a dualit toaster but don'e know the answer! What I'm wondering is what you keep doing to it to blow the element?!

It's a good question, Cam, 'cos it certainly looks like I'm the only one doing it! We've had the toaster for 7.5 years and it's a different element that's gone (I think). All I do is make toast, honest...

I have a Dualit toaster (7.5yrs old too!) for which I keep meaning to buy a replacement centre element...

Have turned mine upside down... using pliers/little spanner, can you undo the nuts that the screws screw into? You might have to hold the screw with pliers to stop it turning. Or a short stubby screwdriver?

Will try that SD! Has it worked for you?

I've not even got round to ordering the element yet!! It's been broken for 2 years now

ponygirl · 23/11/2004 13:14

Ah. Well, I've got the screws off that hold the element in place, but there's a metal plate lying across the ends of all the elements and I can't see how to remove it.

In the meantime, can I recommend this?

OK, the two bolts holding the plate in place just need loosening with a small spanner / socket spanner and then the plate pushes back and you can change the filter! Success!
