If you had a new baby girl {already got a boy BUT he is at junior school}. What pressie would you like for her? What pressie would you like for you? {a month after giving birth} It is quite small budget of about £10 for baby I am also getting pressie for older boy

Would you like someone to give you some food or would you like a pressie. If so what?

Her DH does all the cooking so I don't know what I could cook etc. They are quite rich so money is not a problem for them

Thanks

A small toy for the next stage up eg 3-6 months (as you always get loads of newborn stuff)..or a lovely book that can be read to her.

For me, and nice bath/shower stuff from Boots would do...(bath wa s aluxury quiet time alone after babies)

Sanctuary is nice...

Are there any books/toys that are new now that weren't around 7 years ago when her DS was little?

Something to wear for the baby come spring time ? Because it's sale time, you could get something lovely in eg monsoon for well under £10, which would normally be more. i had dd after 2 boys, and LOVED buying/being given little girls' things for her.

If your dh is a good cook, then a yummy casserole would be very welcome...especially after a month when sometimes you are more rather than less tired a bit longer after the birth.

Or something like smartish handcream/body lotion from boots, from a posher range.

For baby - a nice girly outfit (maybe from monsoon)

For me - food hamper, or a yummy box of choc's and a bunch of flowers.

i've just recieved loads of pressies for a newborn girl . my favourite has been an M+S outfit from their 'isabella's toybox' range. i don't know how much it cost.

personally, i wouldn't take it amiss if i got some bath foam and the offer to mind the baby for an hour while i have a bath. dh can only do so much - you'd have to know the person pretty well though.

Offering to go and print out any pictures taken would also be good. i'm not really up and sabout yet and i'd love one on the mantlepiece.

Susiemj · 10/01/2008 18:17

second thoughts - a picture in a frame would be lovely.

a 6-12 month garment for baby - agree monsoon great as feels special. agree casserole or similar for freezer.

ConnorTraceptive · 10/01/2008 19:16

I would like a really large pot of pate.

Onlyaphase · 10/01/2008 19:16

Best things I got were handcream for me and playmats/blankets in girly colours. Would also think about buying some pretty muslins in girly colours - Blooming Marvellous do some nice flowery ones - as would make a change from the neutral ones she already has.

But I don't like clothes being bought for me, so wouldn't really buy them for someone else IYSWIM. I like things that will be used more often than clothes, hence muslins and blankets and handcream!

I think homemade cakes always go down really well as the whole family can enjoy them. TBH, I think I'd have liked anything really girly.

Onlyaphase · 10/01/2008 19:22

Yes, homemade cakes! Do a big plate of fairy cakes and decorate with dolly mixture a la Nigella Lawson. I did this for DD's first birthday and they looked so pretty, to pretty to eat!
Actually, they were teethrottingly sweet as well, so maybe not. But a homemade cake would be lovely in general......
