Trunki Scooter or Globber Ultimum or alternatives?

Hello,
I used to be a huge fan of Micro scooters, and swore they were the brand to get. But I am currently mourning the loss of our super lightweight balance bike for school runs now my son has outgrown it. He is 5 and has been able to ride a pedal bike for a year, but it is not ideal for the long school run as we have a mix of walk and bus, and I can't take his bike on the bus, and even though it is a lightweight brand it is too heavy to carry nearly 2 miles home.

After his Featherlight balance bike that is easy to carry home, even the mini micro which he is about to outgrow feels very heavy and cumbersome in comparison. Our old Maxi of siblings is even heavier and doesn't fold.

So while I was browsing for even lighter scooters (there aren't any) I came across the Globber Ultimum, which is a three wheeler that is age 5 to adult. It is heavy, but can be folded into a trolley to pull home, or can be ridden home by the adult. The weight limit is a generous 14 stone. What put me off is reviews saying wheels wear down quickly and can't be replaced and some customers have found they have broken quickly and they can't get in touch with customer service.

Undecided wether to chance it, I continued to look for folding scooters, and came across the Trunki. The large is the same weight as a Maxi Micro and the Globber Ultimum but has an included carry and pull handle, and takes a weight up to 12 stone. Handle height suits age 3-adult. It very much looks like a child's scooter unlike the Globber but I'd only use it myself very occasionally when there is noone around 😂. It is cheaper and sold by Halfords so I assume easier to return if any problems.

So I'm leaning towards the Trunki, but I can't find any real life reviews for it anywhere. Does anyone have it? Have you tried it as an adult? I don't have to be able to ride it as I can use the carry handle, but is it realistically too heavy for this?

What did you end up going for? My son has the small trunki scooter which he is now outgrowing. We have found it amazing so trying to decide whether to get the large one now or go for something different. Love them fact can carry the small one and when he’s tired on long walks he just stands on it and I pull him along with the handle

Hello JoshJoe1, can I pick your brains, as would love to know what age the small trunki scooter is designed for? I’ve got a 2.5 year old but he’s quite tall and don’t want to invest in something he’s not going to get use out of and sounds like you’d know .

Hi my son has had his since age 3. He could have had before though though 2 and half will be perfect. He’s tall for his age and will be 5 December. Could probably get another year out of it as at the moment he’s on the second tallest height setting so another one to go yet. We have decided to go for the globber next for him ( probably next summer) only reason being that it’s black so looks more grown up than the large trunki. I really do recommend you get the small trunki , my son loves his, I think they are brilliant.

Thank you so much for your reply JoshJoe1 that is really helpful. Had been looking at and undecided between a trunki and a micro mini, so think you may have swayed me. Glovers look good as well.

That should have said Globber not glovers!
