Recommendations for toys or products for a baby

My DH came home tonight to say that his office had clubbed together (about £120)for a gift for our DD2. She's 2 months old and as she has a 3 yr old sister we already have all the basics. DH has been asked to to think about what they should buy - ideally I'd like to say the money would be great to go towards the pushchair but apparently that wouldn't go down well. So, I've been racking my brains as to what would be good and thought I'd put it to you guys. What have you had that was indispensible, or had lots of fun out of? It doesn't matter whether it's a toy or a baby product, all suggestions welcome!

wouldnt they give you vouchers for shop that you want pushchair from?
im sure as long as they can give you 'something' instead of cold hard cash that should be fine?

fairydust · 22/11/2004 21:13

vouchers for john lewis / mothercare - that way you can put it towards what you need

How about a portrait session. It's a lovely thing to have but not many of us can afford them!! What a generous office your dh works at!!
Or, how about using it in the future to pay for swimming lessons of Tumble Tots for her again, a nice thing for her but pricey for us!! Expecially as you have 3yr old too!!

I would also say that a swing would be a great buy. We got a graco one for dd last year and she loved it. It had a bear mobile that really caught her attention. Or like others have said could you have vouchers to use in shops like JL/mothercare.

Another great buy we had for a young baby was an Aquarium that clips onto the side of the cot and plays tunes. Its lovely and there are nursery rhymes and sounds of the sea such as water, waves etc. DD is now nearly 14months and still loves it. I joke that she is switching on her radio when she goes to bed!!

Have you got a battery operated Graco swing things?? I didn't have one with ds but brought one when I had dd. It was invaluble. It meant I got hot meals, something I'd never had when ds was a baby!!!

Sorry just red the thread properly and seen that a swing has already been suggested.
